Fairfield Waitlist

When will I know if I get admitted to Fairfield or not? They say they alert people sometime after may 1st, but I want to know exactly when? (Anyone with waitlist experience?)

Once they enter all the deposits, they will see what major has room. At that point they will look to the waitlist and pick from there to fill their classes. If they have filled all majors they will not go to the waitlist.

You know long it will take them to fill all of the classes. I am majoring in computer science by the way.

You should call them and see if computer science is full and tell them how much you want to be at Fairfield. If computer science is full and you would work towards it even if it isn’t open right now tell them that because technically you don’t have to pick your major right from the beginning. Every college is different but most college students either pick a final major in junior year or work towards a specific major starting as a freshman. Computer science would be a major that you would need to start from the beginning taking all the required classes. But nothing is impossible because students switch their major all the time. Some students go in undecided just to get in and decide what interests them as they go along.

@mrs806 omg thank you for so much assistance! I did not think about calling them, I e-mailed them. And she replied back saying “if you replied to remain on the waitlist, we may be in touch.” Is that a good thing or bad thing? Also since I already emailed them, should I call them too? I don’t want to sound annoying or anything.

@mrs806 also, my second intended major is graphic design. Maybe they could put me in that section?

@mrs806 think I should e-mail the admissions counselor again to tell her I would like to major in something different?

Yes you should email her again and say that you would be willing to go in as a graphic design major in order to be able to attend Fairfield. If that happens you could talk to your mentors along the way and they will help you achieve your goal of computer science.

I do want to say one more thing. When my kids were applying and they were faced with waitlists everyone including myself was worried that we would become annoying if we called. We have to remember that they want to fill their class, college is a business so if they keep hearing of a student that really wants to be there and explains why. example the size of the school is a perfect fit for me, I feel that I can excel in the small community. Another example is I am interested in the volunteer opportunities at Fairfield or a specific club that is not offered in many colleges. Saying I fell in love with Fairfield’s campus will not work. Be specific and do your research about Fairfield. Certainly tell them that Fairfield remains your first choice and that you would definitely attend if accepted. Only tell your counselor that if it is true.

@mrs806 Okay, so I shall e-mail my admissions counselor again you think? Also, I just want to thank you for your assistance, I greatly appreciate it. I’ll be sure to e-mail my admissions counselor again on why I think Fairfield is a great school. And I’ll just tell them that I would like to major in Graphic Design. Whatever it takes me to get into Fairfield.

yes email your admissions counselor and once again tell them how you will attend if accepted. What they want to know is who will definitely enroll. Fairfield is very expensive and there will be many who have chosen other schools due to cost or they got in to another school that gave them more merit or financial aid. There are many reasons why students decide on a specific school including us. We sent our deposit in for Fairfield for my second son but at first we were very hesitant because he received a lot more money at some other also very good schools but in the end Fairfield remained his number one choice. Good Luck. Keep us posted. It is so tough to wait for a call from a waitlist, hang in and be honest with them and you just may end up at Fairfield!!

Yup! Thank you so much! I just sent them another e mail about my honesty, and how I would like to major in something different. I am praying that there are spots left in the other department.

I called them few days before and talked with the international admissions counselor and he told me that spots are still available and we will start releasing our decisions from next week that means from May 14th. I am also a waitlist student at Fairfield University and waiting for my decision.

@doppler213 thank you! I’m not sure why everyone gets waitlisted from Fairfield. I’m confused, cause I know 5 other people who got waitlisted too.

Where are you from? Yeah, Fairfield waitlists a lot of people!

I’m from Connecticut. Fairfield is my number one choice, I didn’t deposit to a school yet because I’m waiting for their answer.

I hope you get in. Good Luck with your decision!

@Doppler213 you too!

Why didn’t you deposit at the school you got into that you preferred? If you got into Fairfield you could have withdrawn from your original school and deposited at Fairfield. The only loss would be your deposit at the original school. Right now you have no college to attend as your other acceptances expired as of May 1. I would contact the preferred school you have been accepted to (hopefully you had a safety or two that you would be happy to attend) and see if there is still space for you to deposit. In addition look at the NACAC list of colleges with space still open.

I hope you get into Fairfield but it was a terrible decision to pin everything on getting in off of a waitlist.

@AnonymousTuxedo Thanks! I am just waitlisted at Bucknell and Fairfield and left with no choice. It’s really troubling me now.
