fairly prestigious summer programs i can apply for next year?

i think i didnt start looking at summer programs early enough this year ):
what are some "prestigious" programs that would be worth applying to?

leadership/buisness/art would be a plus (:
thanks!

lol you should probably include whether you’ll be a freshman/sophomore/junior/senior

If you are going to be a sophomore or junior next year then you should really apply for a Telluride association program. The somphomore one is called TASS (which I will be attending this year), and the junior one is called TASP (which my sister will be attending). Telluride is a very prestigious group. TASP tends to be more well known and more prestigious, but really any Telluride program is awesome. Check out past TASS and TASP threads if you’re interested, or feel free to pm me.

Tass/tasp
ssp
rsi
mites
yess
lead
sei

thanks!
by the way, im going to be a junior in the fall

If you’re into politics, try Governor’s School and Boys’ State. The former is more prestigious than the latter, butt if you’re politically savvy enough, the latter can lead to Boys’ Nation, which is outstandingly prestigious.

bara2011, is TASP for rising juniors or current ones? thanks (:

Their website just says “high school juniors”, but I’m pretty sure it means current juniors. TASS is for “high school sophomores” and I haven’t heard of any current freshman going so I’m guessing that TASP is for current juniors.

TASP is for current Juniors, and TASS is for current Sophmores.

how about University of Iowa’s SSTP? I was accepted into this program last year, but it was cancelled because of the flooding in Iowa. But it’s research based program where u get to do your own research project and work with a mentor (a prfessor)

Look at the pages and pages on this in the stickied thread at the top!

That’s too bad wildchartermage…what did you end up doing last summer?

I ended up doing a research project with a MIT professor last summer in a MIT-Harvard laboratory :)

^ wow, impressive!

are internships generally good for college? i have an opportunity overseas at a business experimenting with converting trash into energy; should i accept?

also, about how long should internships be?

My sister is in TASP at Cornell and reports that it is full of brilliant, fun, hard-working awesome kids. She is having to work really hard, but says that the professors are amazing. She says they know what they are doing.

get a job

i can see going to one of those academic programs if you’re a real nerd or if it’s really really prestigious, but if you’re gonna intern, get a job

^Haha, I like how your username is pinkslip and you recommend getting a summer job.

TASP > Job. Though I am a nerd so my opinion is biased.

Gigglesauce.

^ Gigglesauce? Really?

wigwam-
my boss was a jerk- like get in your face to the point you think he’s gonna hit you
he did that one day. he raised his hand when he was within 4 inches of my face, so i pushed him off. this all leads to the infamous pink slip. my last line- “who needs the big mac when there’s burger king?”
