hey guys…
my interviewer contacted me two days ago, and he wants me to interview at his house on saturday.
is this weird? going to a man’s house, alone? it’s kind of freaking me out (and my parents)
…
but at the same time, i don’t want to come off as paranoid…
what should i do? request a change in interview location?
thanks…

well you might suggest some place closer to your home saying something like, "I don't have a car" idk, or buy some mace or pepper spray tomorrow.

Uh, no, it's not weird.

That's totally normal. A lot of interviewers do it at their house. But if you're not comfortable with it, offer to meet at a coffee shop closer to your home (say transportation is a problem).

haha..pepper spray.

thanks guys..

guess i am just paranoid :)

Haha, the same thing happened to me and I'm paranoid too lol. I have my interview on the 26th and my mom's just gonna go with me and wait (I guess maybe in his house, I don't really know) while he interviews me.

NO! Your interviewer should have given you other options other than just his house, but don't bring your parents to your interview. Thats like no-no number one. What you can do though, is go with your mom, and she can ask if there's somewhere nearby where she can wait. Your interviewer will probably let her stay in another room of the house, plus she won't look overbearing.

Don't worry, I'm not gonna let her sit in on the interview. I asked my interviewer about bringing along one of my parents and he said that usually parents of other kids he's interviewed have waited in the car or at a nearby coffee shop. I'm guessing my mom can do that if she can't wait in another room.

It's alright! It's not unusual. I did an interview in a guy's house and it was fine. He was a Rabbi :)
Yeah, I wouldn't advise bringing a parent to the interview. You're supposed to seem grown-up enough to not need one.
Good luck with it! Preparing really helps!

The only reason that I wanted to bring my mom along was because she was scared about me going to a strange man's house all by myself. So if she's at least nearby, I would definitely feel a lot more comfortable.

I know it's probably a little late by now and you've probably made the arrangements, but when I had my Brown interview, the woman suggested her house, which weirded me out just a little bit, so I suggested we meet at a library in her town, which was fine with her.

well i just had my interview, and i think it went pretty well :)
the man who interviewed me was awesome.
good luck to those of you who have yet to interview....

It's not a strange man. It is a Brown alumni who does interviews for the school. The Brown admission office has introduced you to him.
