Fake ID taken at Albertsons

Got my fake ID confiscated at Albertsons in Goleta over the weekend trying to buy beer. The guy told me to leave or he would call the police, so I left. But then I called today and pretended I was a parent and asked what they do with fake IDs and they said they send them to a detective in Ventura.

The bummer part about all of this, is the ID had my real info on it. All that was different was the date of birth. So I feel like I am an easy target!

Should I be worried about this? Anyone have any experience with this? Any advice?

Obviously I took the risk and knew there were consequences for using it and getting caught, so there is no need to rag on me for it. It happened, it is what it is, I am purely asking for advice, and curious if anyone else has been in the same situation.

Thanks!

my advice, just don’t do it again, they usually don’t take any action on the first offense …

why would you go to an albertson’s with it! you gotta take those card to the cheap looking liquor stores that don’t swipe before you purchase it.

dude, you should not use it, period !!!

They didn’t even swipe it (though it actually scans fine)! The guy just looked at it for a while and felt it in his hands for a minute or so and then looked at me and said, this is fake, you can leave now, or I can call the sheriff. And I had already had a few drinks and didn’t have it in me to argue, so I just left.

I used it at Vons three hours earlier no problem too. I guess that Albertsons is just really strict, they probably get a million fakes…I just figured mine looked good enough to pass, guess I was wrong.

theleakers- definitely learned my lesson, wont be going to that alberstons again until I am of age! I am really really hoping you are right!

if they follow up on every fake ID, I doubt you’ll have any problems. I’m sure there are hundreds of people at UCSB and SBCC that have fake IDs and get them confiscated. It would be a waste of time and resources for the sheriffs to try to catch everyone who uses them. And, since most information on fake IDs are fake, they probably won’t realize that your information is real. I don’t think you gotta worry.

dude, I just want to know why do you ever want to do anything illegal, you are farking with your life, what happen if you get drunk and hit or kill someone, it is just plain stupid, and the best thing that you can do is never do anything illegal again … you are giving other UCSB students a bad name ,

@leakers: just because you drink doesn’t mean you’re gonna drive and possibly hurt somebody. It’s called self-control and drinking responsibly.

It’s called self-control and drinking responsibly.

not if you use a fake ID and try to buy liquor,
if someone is responsible, then he should not even buy it …

I have no problem with moderate drinking and not driving when one is drunk …

420, getting stupid drunk, and partying! Class of 2015 baby! =P

From what I’ve heard, you only really get in trouble if you use someone elses ID or someone elses information because they can charge you for “identity theft” and impersonation. BUT since all your information was in fact true I doubt they would do anything beside a slap on the wrist or maybe a small fine? nothing major to worry about :)

<<but since=“” all=“” your=“” information=“” was=“” in=“” fact=“” true=“”>></but>

not true, he changed the birthdate !!!

What is the Punishment for Using a Fake ID?

Assuming that the ID in question is not for falsifying your citizenship (which is much more serious and would delve into the realm of illegal aliens/terrorism), the law generally punishes the conduct of misrepresenting your identity in two ways: first is the use of the fake identification (or real identification that does not belong to you) to falsely identify yourself, and the second is the tampering or falsification of an actual identification card.

* Using a Fake ID: You can be prosecuted for a number of different crimes for using fake identification. Since these laws are regulated by state, every state will have its own punishments. These penalties can run the gamut from being a simple $500 misdemeanor in some states, to being considered criminal impersonation or forgery, both felonies punishable by up to a year and a half in state prison. If the ID is used to purchase a firearm, its a felony in every state, and can get you up to 7 years in prison.

 • Modifying a Real ID: If you have also actually tampered with a real identification card, you could be charged with another crime like tampering with a public record, or altering government documents. This punishes the act of altering or changing an officially issued piece of documentation like a driver’s license, and is an even more serious felony in most states. In New York, for example, it is punishable by up to 7 years in prison.

It should also be noted that, even without using any kind of false ID, the mere act of attempting to purchase alcohol is a crime if you are a minor (generally the lowest class of misdemeanor, meaning a fine), and that all of the crimes listed above will also result in the suspension of a drivers license, from anywhere between 90 to 180 days.

what I meant by saying his information was all true was that he wasn’t trying to impersonate someone. yes, you’re right, his birthday was different.

bottom line is don’t ruin your life for doing things like this, you might get lucky once, but don’t try to tempt fate … it is just not worth it …

Dude forget the fake, unless u look young for your age, just try going in with no ID, just hope that they dnt ask for ID, you cant get in trouble like that at all, worst thing that can happen is u leave empty handed, i’ve done this thousands of times and its worked (mostly at Rite-Aid and asian liquor stores lol). if they ask for ID u just say u forgot it in your car and then u just leave, and if they dnt then u can get your keith stone lol

Dude don’t even worry. But never, ever use it at those big chain stores, they can get in huge trouble if they’re caught selling liquor to an underage person. When I was a kid my parents owned this BnZ store and a kid came in, bought some beer, left, and then came back with some cops who wrote my dad a fat ticket. If you MUSTTTTTTTT buy alc at albertsons for some reason, you can get a 6 pack of root beer and swap the root beer with real alc.

had mine taken at a ralphs(in oc though) with all my real info on it, really had me sweating for a few weeks but nothing ever came of it.

dont worry it about it they only want to scare you. mine got taken away because i let my friend borrow it to try and get into a club they told us they were going to take it to the sheriff. I just went to the dmv next day and said i lost it.
