I don’t want to downplay the potential for getting into trouble over this, but I have to say that every time this comes up, I do a search for some evidence of anybody, anywhere, getting into serious trouble for using a fake ID to get into a bar. So far, I haven’t found it. Perhaps it’s because, as MomOfWildChild suggests, the trouble is that you have to pay a large amount of money to get out of the trouble and it doesn’t get reported. And:
I agree with the first sentence, but I’m not sure I do agree with the second. If you want to get into the club where a band you want to hear is playing, you need ID. Is it really the case that you don’t belong there because alcohol is served? I think we’ve created a system that sets up strong incentives for kids to circumvent the law–and we’re just putting money into the pockets of “the Chinese guy.”
