if you get a letter from the academy about the Falcon Scholar program then congratulations! It means the AFA wants you. If you don't get in this year then they want you for next year.
As a Falcon Scholar you will make out very well financially - they get a lot of support from the AFA AOG.
You will not be competing with the rest of the pool for an appointment next year. You will have to obtain a nomination and apply to your MOC's again. At MMI you will also qualify for a ROTC nomination as well.
Rest assurred the academy will essentially hold a spot for you in the class of 2013. If you don't mind waiting a year it is as close to a sure thing as you can get.

Wentworth in MO?

My son did not receive an appointment in 07 but did receive a Falcon Scholarship. Dlmag, Unfortunately for your daughter as was for my son, there is not a lot of time to do a lot of research or visit the different schools. I think at the bottom of the letter, it says in big bold letters "Act Promptly". My son also received an Air Force Type 1 scholarship. He chose to go to Marion Military Institute and pursue the Air Force Academy instead of pursuing ROTC at another University. His heart was always with the Academy. He rec'd an early appointment for the class of 2012. As for which of the 5 schools to attend, all of them are chosen by the Academy to get your daughter where she needs to be. Good Luck on your choice and congrats to your daughter.
