How am I going to change the application now? I only applied for Haas undergrad.

My CCC district (Los Rios) doesnt have guaranteed transfer agreement with Cal (or UCLA for that matter). I would be one happy camper if they did.

I dunno, a cousin of mine just got deferred to Cal L&S after Haas slapped her down, so I guess it's automatic.

Sucks on the no TAP program...

UCLAri, I focused on my GPA and completion of all requirements. I did join honor society etc but I was hoping to get in on grades.

Floydian, the torture you business majors are put through is ridiculous! Have you considered applying to Business School after your bachelors?
Maybe it's better you get into UCLA or a lesser competitive school - it will help you maintain a high gpa and will give you a leg up when applying for Bus school.

I want to get into UCB but I know that it's extremely hard to maintain a 3.8-4.0 that will be needed to get into a good law school. Part of me wants to defer gratification and go to a less competitive school that will make it easier to have the high gpa required by law schools.

Good luck Floydian! I hope you get in! I hope we both do! :)

Tifania,

If you think that your grades at UCLA are going to be easier than Cal, you're in for a shock.

To everyone:
Undergrad business degrees are not any more useful than econ degrees or English degrees, or Japanese degrees. Besides, MBA programs are now practically requiring work experience, so don't sweat it to much if you end up in L&S.

business Econ major - i know its 'really really really' competitive!
from pasadena city college, as of last winter, 3.92 gpa with 59 units/IGETC completed.
still taking 2 classes with 9 units in spring.

yeah...that is kinda true...lots of my friends who graduted from UCLA's busienss econ cannot even find a good job with higher paid after 2 years in work. SAD :(

3.9 GPA
IGETC certified
all major requirements completed
TAP Honors
Psychology

accepted to UCI pending UCLA UCR UCSD UCD UCSB

danzzz,

2 years in the workforce is not that long. Your friend is still young, and should not even be remotely worried yet. At 24-25ish, the experience is more important than the money...

or maybe it's time for grad school! :-P

aebeys,

Unless the UCs have gone insane in the worst way, you're a future Bruin/Golden Bear. I'd bet my WoW account on it.

thanks UCLAri :)

bump...bump...bump...

UCLAri- Not necessarily (regarding the stroking of the ego with TAP and 3.5+). For some majors, most notably comm, 3.5 is an absolute minimum. TAP is sometimes considered and sometimes not so much (for comm, that is. others look at it for sure). It's actually considerably arbitrary.

So yeah. While I (and others like me, Im sure) know that I've done as much and as well as I possibly could, I still realize that nothing is guarenteed.

Last year I had two friends who were rejected from LA with 3.7+ and TAP for business econ, while another person with TAP and a 3.5something got in. No notable differences other than the GPAs.

It's random.

With that said though, aebeys- youre in.

i hope allie but i am scared because two of my friends last year didn't get in with a 3.9 GPA (igetc certified and TAP).

so i don't know what to expect :(.......just wait and see

What on earth is up with UCLA and TAPs then? BAH!!!

In my days, TAPs were the golden standard! It was the secret back door. You youngins, goin' and ruin' everything!

BAH!!!

Good luck everyone! :-)

haha youngins..we are like a year younger than you ;)
