Its going to be Emory. Biomedical Science. It wasn't high on the list when he started, but became #1 after his visit. Was impressed with everything in Atlanta and the contact with the CDC.

Got into 7 of the 10 programs he applied to, but it seems that this was a pretty easy decision for him.

Your son will love studying in Emory. The university has a fantastic working relationship with the CDC, and it is literally right next door (on Clifton Dr.)

Congratulations Blukorea. Cornell is a great choice. Interesting that you picked Cornell over UVa as both are outside of metro areas. Did UVa give you decent funding?

Much thanks. UVa indeed offered me a good funding package. It was very difficult to turn it down, as they have an amazing ancient history faculty and the town is truly gorgeous. I think the determining factor was 'where I would feel more comfortable.' All academic considerations being more or less comparable, Cornell has a more diverse student body and bigger Korean community, and I really liked the graduate students there.

Thank you blazingson. Do you have a lot of first hand knowledge about the area around Emory? If so... I would appreciate any info you could send me regarding off campus area housing. He's asked me...and of course, I have no clue. We need to get him moved in by mid-May because he is starting early rotations this summer..

I'm going to the London School of Economics because 1. it was my first choice and 2. I have no options. Next year, I'm going to apply to more than two schools for sure.

I am 99% sure, but I have yet to make my final decision

Computer Science M.S.

Choice: University of California - San Diego

Options: Brown, UCI, NYU

Reasons:

1) My research adviser thought highly of its program
2) Its CS department is well accredited by various rankings
3) Have 2 or 3 professors whose research somewhat interests me
4) Cheaper tuition than Brown or NYU
5) Sunny skies and awesome weather helps too

Reason: Superior facility, awesome research, good location, good people (previous classes and my incoming class), only thing is that i dont get paid as much, so that pushes me to apply to alot of fellowship next year.

regrettably i cant live up to my sn. westcoast is just more attractive during the winter time.

Choice: UW Seattle, sending in commitment tomorrow

Other options: Pratt, CCA, RIT, SCAD, or waiting out the waitlist at MICA.

Reasons: Best combination of a school that suited my interests and was affordable. Great city, good connection with the faculty. Prestige of other offers (Pratt, CCA, not so much the other two) was not worth the price.

Choice: Taking a sweet job at a small aerospace company

Options: MIT aero/astro, sweet job

He's deferring his MIT acceptance for two years and working at this company, which will pay for him to go back and do his master's in two years. Everybody wins!

Reasons: Got a good offer and it was my second choice; profs were easy to get along with; Kevin Durant just said he was leaving so there's an opening for me; 6th street

Choice: Dartmouth
Options: Duke , UCI (MS in CS) , Still havent heard back from like 4 programs!
Reasons: $$$ !! Gave me a good offer and a decent school for me to give up on engineering and move on to greener($$) pastures.

Choice: Georgia Tech
Options: MS - UIUC, UT Austin || MS/PhD - UCLA, UCSB, Cornell
Reason: Research options at MS/PhD schools didn't look interesting enough to commit to PhD to. Decided to do MS, then reapply for PhD after figuring out what I want to do. Lots of interesting research options/ interested professors at GATech. Good funding. Like urban environment, good campus/coursework, focused atmosphere
