Do you guys think I will get into BYU with a 3.1 unwighted GPA, 2010 SAT, and 31 ACT score? I am a guy if that makes a difference because I know fewer guys apply than girls.

it's hard to say.
your gpa is not good enough but your ACT is impressive.BYU prefers ACT.

I've considered transferring to BYU,hence,I emailed the admission office. They told me I'd better have a GPA above 3.6 if I want to be competitive.Though,I now little about freshman admission.Maybe 1/3 ACT,1/3 GPA,1/3 extracurriculum for freshman admission consideration.

I think you have a pretty good shot. I think there is this common misconception amongst Mormons that BYU is extremely difficult to get into. I don't think this is the case. I scored a 2030, 32, and had a 3.35 G.P.A. unweighted. So we are kinda in the same boat. I did have solid EC though (Var. Volleyball, football, eagle scout, boys state, 300 hrs. service, leadership, etc). I ended up getting in no problem...i didn't even complete the essay portion of the application. I think there acceptance rate is something like 70% That is really really high. And just for more anecdotal evidence, I know several people who scored either a 23 or 24 with a 3.7 unweghted gpa and they got in...so it goes both ways. Just work hard and don't sweat it. Apply early and you'll get in. get good recs too. They'll be begging you to come with a 31. haha. good luck!

Having worked in the admissions office, I can tell you that your GPA is really going to hurt you. It is, in fact, worth 1/3 of your decision. However, since your ACT is several points higher than the average accepted ACT (between a 27 and 28 is the average), that might just cancel out the GPA. It will be a tough decision, and your EC's, recommendations, and when you apply will become more important factors. DEFINITELY apply early.

I just got my most recent ACT score back this morning and it's a 32 if that makes a difference.

I had a friend last year who got in with a 3.3GPA and a 26 ACT. He didn't apply early either. If your are worried about getting in, you could always go to BYU Idaho or BYU Hawaii for a semester and transfer in with ease.

BYU Hawaii is more difficult to get into than BYU Provo. So though he might go to Idaho for a year and then transfer, Hawaii really is out of the question right now. Hopefully, though, he'll be accepted right away at Provo.

byu hawaii is not more difficult. It has a lower acceptance rate...yes. But it also has alot lower ACT Score average and GPA. I think a more accurate term is it is more "selective." If you're an islander with those stats i'd say you are in...if you are a white boy from ventura california, oh well.

Well, if he is an islander than I suppose it wouldn't be that difficult, but for any non-foreign applicant it certainly is more difficult to be accepted. You will have to have an above average ACT and GPA.
