Biomed- You should definitely be in, but UNC is not known for engineering like NCState so I don’t know if the transfer is worth it.

izzyg52- You’re in the middle for me. You’ve only had one semester to show them that your SAT scores are not reflected on the type of student you are. If you were to apply, it could go either way, I could see you getting wait-listed or accepted on certain conditions in which you had to maintain a certain GPA. For junior transfer, if you keep your grades where they are, you’d be in definitely.

This year is my senior year of High school, I’m graduating about 53rd in a 207 person class With a 3.8. I’m going to East Carolina my first year of college hopefully I’m going to try to take some general classes, english and algebra, trying to get a 3.9-4.0 my first year. Would I need this to transfer to UNC? My SAT score in HS was pretty meh, 1410.

to the guy above me, a 1410 out of 1600? That is definately not bad at all! I am in a similar position as you. I did not get in as a HS graduate, so Im going to try and transfer to UNC. Id say you have a solid cance for sure.

Also, can anyone who got in to UNC as a transfer post their HS stats, college stats and whether they tranferred in as a soph. or jr? I would really appreciate it guys!!

TarHeelBound: I was accepted to UNC when I was applying for schools as a senior in high school. My high school stats were good: 3rd out of 555… but my SAT was only 1370 out of 1600.

Does anybody know how hard it is for a transfer coming in as a sophmore to get into the business school? i have a 3.7 at my current college with an extremly difficult course load in the business program and would like to go to Kenan–Flagler. How competitive is admission and what kind of stats are considered good?

You cannot transfer directly into the business school. It’s a separate application after you already enroll for a semester at UNC, and it is extremely hard to get into.

So I am currently a sophomore in Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. I have a 3.74 GPA, 58 credits already (74 by the end of this semester). HS gpa is around 3.9. I am an international student. Finance Director in my student org. I am also a volunteer in Kids Against Hunger…

chance me:
freshman at umd cp
hs gpa-3.34 (unweighted)
aps- 5
college gpa- 3.57 (top 20% of class)
sat- math 640, reading 680, writing 640
what i think is a pretty good transfer essay
lots of very strong leadership ECs, in national honor society, some sports
out of state too

High School:
GPA: 3.4 (unweighted) 4.0 (weighted)
Top 25% of HS class
AP: 5 total AP classes (mostly B grades and mostly 3s on AP exams)
SAT: 600M 650CR 590W
EX: strong extracurriculars, volunteering and leadership

College (applying for fall of sophomore):
GPA: 3.94 (one semester of classes)
EX: Honors program, Deans list, member of a couple clubs, volunteer abroad

My strongest aspects are definitely my extracurriculars and my grades senior year in HS (4.875 weighted) and first semester in college (3.94). Also, I believe my essays are pretty strong.

hello…

hmm not that good… but yeah… that was me… hah

and I have the SAT score, but I have to retake it…

I really want an honest opinion on my chances of getting in.

High School:
top 20 of 260
cum. GPA 4.4
SAT 1230 without writing. 1810 total
and a butt load of extra curricular stuff. I got deferred then wait listed last year. I am now applying as a rising sophomore to UNC.

I’m at NC State now with a political science major in progress,
I have a 3.4 and very involved extra curricular activities including some elected positions. My father and brother went to UNC, which isn’t always a helping factor but yeah.

Hi I am currently a freshmen at Stony Brook University and I was wondering if anyone could tell me my chances of getting into University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill.
I didn’t do that good my first semester, had a 3.25 gpa, in high school I had a 93 weighted average and I was ranked 92 out of 600 students in my school, which is about top 15%. My SAT total score was 1790: Math-650, Critical Reading-600, Writing-540. Thank you.
