Fall 2005 Courses

Well, the thing is that if you have a double, sometimes it's not up to you whether or not you'll have substances in your room. Depends on the roommate you get. It's not that I'm anti-alcohol--a lot of sub-free kids actually drink very regularly. I just want to live in a nice, quiet room where, if needed, I can concentrate. To DVD, no, most kids don't smoke, and to my knowledge there's just been a dorm smoking ban for the whole campus. Also, I don't think it's really a problem getting sub-free housing for those who want it. I thought I read that everyone got it who wanted it last year, and this year it's expanding, so it shouldn't be a problem. If there are any 08/07ers on here, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

I agree with chris - I don't think requesting a substance free dorm should be a problem for anyone - there are lots of rooms available, and as long as there are students who prefer no alcohol, drugs or smoking in their rooms, then substance free housing should be offered, and not on a 'luck of the draw' basis. I recently heard that despite the ban students still sneak a smoke every now and then, just as despite the ban of microwaves several students still have microwaves in their rooms. To answer dvd's question - no, I don't think a lot of students smoke, but I think there are a significant number of smokers at Princeton. It would be great to hear the views of the '08ers though.

No, not a lot of kids smoke. And if they do smoke, they smoke outside. It's never a problem unless they end up smelling like cigarettes.

Rooming info, Res college assignments, emails, SCI computer deals etc will all come over the summer.

Computer deals?

And what's a facebook account?

what's a facebook account?

mzhang, are you in a substance free dorm?

i requested substance free last year (i'm an 08'er) and didn't get it. i dont think it will be a problem for anyone this year though, since there seem to be way more sub free rooms available.

gee, wish i was able to have this conversation right now.
