How many poeple do you think will apply this year? Do you think it is going to be very competitive (it’s already competitive as it is).

JConvey: dont you work in the admissions office? How many poeple are they projecting this year?

JConvey: dont you work in the admissions office? How many poeple are they projecting this year?

I worked in the wharton undergrad as IT support, and could pester people who are adcoms. But yeah, you're not getting those numbers. Also, you butchered my name.

My bad for the name butchering. But anyways, I was just wondering the projection. It's been a long time since I have seen you on this board.

wow JCoveney, was that tone really necessary?

I got banned for a while. And Def: sure it was. you're new, aren't you?

PS you don't know me snap snap

true dat .

Nothing to project. Logically, it will be harder. The common app is now used so we can expect more competition (although I can't deduce the extent of it). The admissions process also increases in difficulty each year (I read in a report, although I can't recall the name, where it talks about how the number of college applicants will increase every year until the people born in 1992-1993 applies for college).

Stetson has said about 8700 poeple have chosen to send their app to Penn via common app so far.

Hold on. Is that early decision applications? If so thast already DOUBLE the amount they got last year.

Do you also have a good source?

I went to a Penn info session. He said it when he was talking about admissions. I think this is for people who have indicated, on the common app, that they will apply to penn (ed and rd).

penn's admit rate will drop significantly due to the common app...

Yeah.

I'm not sure if the amount of ED applications to Penn will increase too much. I doubt the fact that Penn is using the CommonApp will cause some to more freely apply ED. You'd have to be deadset on Penn to apply Early.

RD, however, I'm sure you're right -- Kids who don't really care could just kind of apply to Penn for the heck of it, since they will have already filled out the CommonApp for their other schools.
