Fall 2009 Columbia Transfers

Hey All,

I have seen scattered Columbia Transfer posts, but no unitary thread, so I thought I would start one. Post any stats or relevant information here, and let's get started!

One here! There was a thread before, but it died. I guess there are very few Columbia applicants this year.... which is good =)

I'll post stats in a little bit. Are you coming to the transfer info session this Friday?

No Viola...I went when I was home in the Winter in early January (I am currently at USC). What school are you from?

Cmon people, we need to get this thead robust--start joining in!

Hey-

What would you (Viola, since you are apparently the only one currently posting in this thread) or anybody else guess is the rough breakdown of schools, transfers will be applying to Columbia from. That is, like 25% Ivy League, 50% Top-30, etc. I previously thought that students trying to transfer into Columbia would not be coming from schools that are good as I've seen (the likes of the lower Ivies, Emory, NYU, Georgetwon, etc.) I thought coming from USC would significantly help my chances; perhaps not.

Hey, another Columbia applicant here, I also went to the transfer info session on Friday, anybody else? But Im actually hoping they accept more applicants from LOWER ranked schools because we dont have much to fall back on. At the session though, one speaker transfered from Cornell, but another transfered from Rutgers, so I guess it's a crapshoot.

nathan-

what school are you transferring from? major? stats, etc?

hey i was also at the info session on friday and the fact that the students who transferred in came from a variety of schools i would agree that it is a crapshoot... im applying from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter

hey guys count me in lol~columbia transfers rock! :D
im a current freshman, coming from a state flagship university(o >"< i would say how much i hate sports again, subculture in state universities.)
major in bussiness now but would choose another major in columbia hopefully if i get in.
wut do you ppl think how competitive the transfer application in columbia will be? more competitive or someway others? i didnt attend info session cuz i was already back to college at that time, uhhh. so absolutely dont much about this yr's situation.

it's very competitive but there's still a chance for everyone to get in. they don't weigh your incoming university status. if you're trying for sophomore status they heavily consider your senior year of high school. anyone can get in so don't give up!

Sophomore at NYU
3.8 GPA
Dean's List
English Literature Major

Really just applying for the heck of it.

I want to try and transfer to Columbia.. I posted a thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/657051-please-answer.html

i heard 10% gets accepted so i've be scared if I was hoping to get accepted as a transfer

I'm applying from the University of Michigan. It's an incredible reach, but the application only takes a couple minutes.

thats funny liberate, the application only takes a couple of minutes. I applied too, sophomore and Engineering major hopefully goes well but its still a long way to go. I wish everyone goodluck.

dang son. Business has sure picked up in this thread REALLY fast...

Sup fellas.

Yep, it's gonna be crazy this year... good luck to all.

Doesn't it kind of **** you off that we'll be judged by a panel of people who in a way decide on our future in the next three years and yet claim that the decision is "in no way a reflection of our character?"

another applicant here
sup!!!!
