Fall 2009 Columbia Transfers

Rejected, but I’m so happy that I’m currently choosing between Amherst and Georgetown. Congrats to everyone who got in!

can anyone post the acceptance and waitlist letter?

I believe Columbia accepts approximately 100 transfer students

to all the rejects out there. here’s some math for your soul:

100/2300 = 0.0435

=4.35%

= just go out and buy one of those stop&scratch lottery tickets

man oh man i am crushed. rejected.

Here’s the waitlist letter. :|

May 8, 2009

Dear 20sticks:

I write to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has voted to postpone a final decision on your application for transfer admission. Instead, your name has been placed on a short waiting list of students to be considered for admission should vacancies occur later this summer.

I understand that you may greet this news with mixed feelings. In choosing you as an alternate, the Committee believes that you would contribute to the life of Columbia University and benefit from its offerings. However, this has been by far the most rigorous selection process in Columbia’s history. In such competition the distinctions among candidates can be fine ones indeed, but I can assure you that your application has been given every consideration.

If you would like to remain on the waiting list, please respond online by May 20, 2009, by clicking here. You will need your Columbia ID (C_______). Please also send us no later than May 20th a transcript that reflects your grades for the most recently completed term. Should you choose to remain on the waiting list, we will be in touch by mid-June to let you know if we will be accepting any more students.

If any member of my staff can be of assistance in the weeks ahead, please do not hesitate to write or call. We would like to extend our best wishes and our sincere appreciation for your interest in Columbia.

Haha, it says “short waiting list”. I wonder how short it actually is. There’s like 5 or 6 waitlisted people on CC alone.

rejected…sighhh now all hope is on cornell and upenn

can’t believe the rate’s so low this year, 100/2300??? That’s as bad as Yale and Stanford…

As expected, rejected…

Accepted.

I’m in disbelief

Dartmouth or Columbia?

Congratulations! Dean Austin Quigley and the members of the Committee on Admissions join me in the most rewarding part of my job - informing you that you have been selected for admission to Columbia College. As a student at Columbia, you will be a participant in an academic community wealthy in intellectual and personal talents of every kind. We are fully confident that the gifts you bring to our campus will be unique and valuable and that your abilities will be challenged and developed here.

Congratulations, Ehe! What fine choices you have now.

rejected…

Oops… shouldn’t have kept the hopes up…
:frowning: :frowning: :(

Sorry to hear, alexanderhtom.

Anyway, people have been PMing me to see if I got in, but I actually didn’t apply to Columbia. I withdrew my application before submitting part 2. “Lion” is in my name because I originally planned on applying but later realized only Stanford would make me happier than Northwestern (where I am now).

columbia was my top choice…::sigh::

Decision: Accepted

Where did the 2300 number come from? My acceptance letter didn’t say anything about the specific number of applicants, it only said that this year was a record year.

I’m thrilled! Please join and lets get to know each other more!

Waitlisted =)
It wasn’t what I was hoping for, but it’s a lot better than the alternative.

Congrats to those who were accepted! Please be sure to promptly decline or accept so that those of us who are on the waitlist can get another chance. =P

To the other waitlisters:

Do you guys know if your grades will come out on time to make the May 20th deadline? From my Fall semester, I remember it taking about 2 weeks after the last final exam was over.

The last exam this semester is May 15th =/

Anonymus, I’m pretty sure that my grades will come out AFTER 5/20 as well. Do you know what you’re going to do about that?

Accepted!

You guys were right - my friends were playing around.
