Fall 2009 NYU Transfer Students

brittany and rubin are only for freshmen, sorry.

ah dang :(. oh well…

^ Upperclassmen dorms are so much better anyway!

thats kool, im thinking about lafayette now…

because there’s no orientation housing for session a, r u guys just booking a hotel room?

also, wen will they mail us our id cards?

Hey, I’m a transfer into CAS at NYU. If anybody is looking for a roommate, facebook me. My name is Rishi Chopra.

You can pick up your ID cards on campus, as you’ll need to go get your picture taken and then wait a few minutes for them to create the card.

So, where are you guys living this fall?

Hi – I am also a transfer student. I am wait listed for housing and wondering if someone in a dorm who is seeking a roommate is allowed to pull me in? Does anyone know?

A few questions:

I am flying to NYU on th 29th. Housing check-in is on the 30th. Stern orientation is on the 31st. This means that I will not have anywhere to stay other than a hotel on the 29th. Which hotels do you guys recommend? I would really prefer somewhere cheap, safe, and clean. I don’t need to stay at luxurious hotels. Also, what’s a good price range?

Also, are there any public tennis courts near campus? I imagine they won’t be cheap if they are not public. Also, anyone interested in going to see the U.S. Open?

Do you guys already have roommates? I am doing potluck. Crossing my fingers.

Also, I don’t have a Facebook. How important is it to get one? I had one before, but it was a big timer killer. Worth getting it again?

to play tennis in NY on a public tennis court, you need to get a permit from the parks department. it’s something like $100 for the entire summer, but you can play on any public tennis court in the city. google it. Coles, our gym, has tennis courts. NYU also has intramural tennis, singles or doubles, or even mixed doubles. it’s a fun way to meet other NYUers.

you can try pricelining something for a one night hotel. there aren’t that many hotels in that area. the nearest “chain” hotel i know is that there’s a Holiday Inn on Lafayette and Canal Street, which is a fifteen minute walk from campus. someone in your family might have hotel points or frequent flier miles that you can cash for a low-cost hotel stay. i know my aunts and uncles always have a random assortment of hotel points they’ll never use again, and Manhattan has representatives for almost every hotel chain in the US.

Alas, the tennis courts on the roof of Coles are still closed. grumble

Hey Congrats on NYU. I’m interested in going to the U.S. Open. I’m trying to see if i can score tickets.

Stern gives out US Open tickets to incoming freshmen as part of orientation week. When I went fall 2007 it was very hot and a long subway ride. Had fun though.

Ticket Central will also have US Open tickets, though obviously there’s little chance you’ll see, say, Federer or either Williams sister play.

awww i thought theyd give out tickets to transfers too :'(
