<p>Hello all prospective 09 uc transfers.</p>
<p>I figured since we're all going to be using this forum a lot this coming year, we could use this thread to find out a little about ourselves.</p>
<p>I'll go first:</p>
<p>Applying to: UCB and possibly UCLA
From: UCSD
Major: Mathematics
GPA: 3.6
Interests: Guitar, Poker, The Office</p>

<p>Applying to: UCB (as well as UCI, UCLA and UCD as backup schools)
From: SMC
Major: Something in the social sciences (probably Psych, maybe Sociology or Poli Sci)
GPA: 4.0
Interests: Movies (foreign, indie and documentaries), traveling, reading and transferring!</p>

Major: Business Economics
GPA: 3.67 as of now (which, since fall semester won't be done until January, I guess this current GPA is the one they'll be using, correct?)
Interests: Music (including playing and writing)/international relations (I'd major in this, except these types of majors are sometimes a lil' risky >_<)</p>

-To: UCB (Rhetoric), USC, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB (all Philosophy).
-GPA: 3.73 transferable, 3.63 non-transferable.
-Work: 34-36 hrs/week, USC Medical school (proofreading + other stuff, able to get professor recommendations).
-Interests: Chaos theory, Political philosophy, Legal theory, Linguistics.
-Male Hispanic, first generation college, bottom-bracket income (whatever the latter counts for).</p>
<p>Philosophy major -- interesting. What do you plan to do as a career?</p>
<p>1) Currently, I'm pre-law. I'm interested in academic law.</p>
<p>2) I have also been doing administrative work since age 16, so my back-up is to enter the job market and go on to business school (especially if I pursue the Rhetoric major).</p>
<p>3) I also have a thing for editing/writing/proofreading, so I also may be interested in editing and/or publishing.</p>
<p>4) Last but not least... teach?</p>
<p>As you can tell, I don't really have a set career path, but all I know is that I love Philosophy and that it helps me think. And that my academic potential is not limited to a very specific field. And that I'm shooting for some sort of graduate study.</p>

Interests : Not so much time for personal interests... I'm working part-time and I'm having/starting my own business. But in my free time I like to go Jogging, play poker, read books and self-study a foreign language.</p>

I moved to LA from New Zealand and have slowly been learning how the college system works here. I did IB in high school and scored a 35 but took the wrong SAT subject tests so was declined by UCLA.</p>
<p>After graduation I would like to get an MBA Degree and work on my own business. Maybe later earn a PhD in Computer Science and teach part-time at a university.</p>

<p>Correct me if I'm wrong, but being a first generation college student doesn't matter for UCs, right?</p>
