Fall 2009 UC Transfers

From: Mira Costa Community College

Applying to: UCSB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCD, UCSC

Major: Computer Science

GPA: 3.63

Units completed: 100ish

Units in progress: 12

Units planned in Spring: 14, Physics 2, Physics 3, Differential Equations, and Algorithms and Data Structures

Courses taking now: Calculus 3, Physics 1, Linear Algebra

Completed Major requirements: Everything will be done except Discreet Mathematics

are you sure you can take both phys 2 and 3 simultaneously?

ucla is doubtful but the others are a match. taking electricity/magentim and thermodynamics in the same semester is very difficult, they will expect your gpa to drop…

Yep, absolutely positive you can take them both together. Says so in my CC’s schedule and my councilor said so.

GPA: 6.38 (3.75 with a 4.0 in fall 2008…very doable)

Applying to: Cal and UCLA

Major: Psych

Special Programs: TAP (Cal), Starting Point Mentorship (Cal)

Essays are solid, pre reqs and IGETC done for both schools

what you you guys think?

^ 6.38!! choose any among hypsmc kkk

lol, a 6.38!!! i say go for HYP, UCLA and Cal are too low for your standards!!!

no UCLA TAP?

You’re gonna need anything higher than a 6.38 to raise your chances. A 4.0 will hurt your GPA very bad…

woops…very funny…3.68

Please chance me.

Applying to Berkeley (TAP member)

Transferring from community college in Los Angeles with over 100 units. All units related to major.

GPA: 3.65

Major: Industrial Engineering & Operations Research

I finished all the math, chem, English, and GE’s. I’m taking the last physics class right now. I also completed a couple of engineering classes that transfer. According to assist.org, I’ll have everything done at the end this fall semester.

Any feedback helps. Thanks.

Are you applying to any other schools? Berkeley engineering is pretty competitive and your GPA is a little bit low. You may have a better chance because of the TAP program though. Also the fact that you finished all those pre-reqs can only help.

zac u have a decent chance, id say 7/10

GPA: 3.8

Applying to: UCB/LA/SD/I/SB and USC

Major: Biz econ/econ for UCs, Accounting for USC

Transferring from: PCC

Completed all major requirements already, only some GE classes left to take in spring 09. Screwed up in 3 crappy classes, 2 ESL classes and CIS at the beginning…

I’m a CA resident too.

Worried cuz im applying for the most competitive majors…What do you guys think?? XD

no shot at haas
decent shot for econ with tap
what ECs?

Hello! I’m Kat and am also new to the forum. I’d really like to know my chances of getting into Berkeley or UCLA as a Linguistics major. Thank you!

45 units completed after fall '08
lots of work experiences, few community services.

chance me??

Ladyk - I’d bet the house that you’re getting into both UCLA and UCB.

Tiina - UCSD-Match; UCLA-Low reach/match; UCB-Low- to mid-reach.

CCSF
UCSD, UCB, UCD, UCLA
GPA: 3.5 transferable
Major: English
61 Units Transferable
100 Hours volunteer
pre-reqs: everything except a year of foreign language

Can anyone chance me please? I would like to know if I could get into UCSD if I dont have a year of foreign language. thanks!

jsmz, I would say you are pretty much a match for all of your schools, UCLA and UCB may be somewhat reaches, but English is not that competitive a major. If you write a kick-a$$ essay as well as complete IGETC and Pre-reqs, you should have a decent shot, but it is not a guarantee for Berkeley and UCLA. I’d say UCSD and UCD are pretty safe (I don’t know anything about UCSD’s foreign language requirement beyond IGETC thought).

i didn’t know it wasn’t an option to not report that grade. now i know. thank you for the reply.
