I would list the breadth requirements that may transfer over, but it seems that your situation is unique. If anyone on here has done oos transfer they might be able to help, but most of us are coming from a ccc. At any rate, I would definitely give them a call.

I have, and have gotten mixed responses/ no responses. Any input is appreciated!

Describe an experience you had in a culture different from your own. How would this experience prepare you for a diverse world?

United States is the country that makes you forget your home land. These were the words of my father when he sent me off at the airport in Bulgaria four years ago. I thought that this will never happen with me because I have an infinite love for my country and keep deep inside my own culture. At that time I did not know how influential the American culture is.
I grew up in a country where the communism has left its ugly sign and changed the mentality of the people of whole generation. Their life was based on the simple things in live; family, friends and work giving just as much as you can be equal to your neighbor. They did not know what success, prosperity, wealth or even respect for what you have achieved is. However, the gray life they had used to life made them passionate and sensitive people, carrying about each other, appreciating simple things in life.
When I came to the United States I met totally different culture. I met people ready for anything in the name of their success, people with a high self esteem and attitude of winners. They didnt have to fight for their freedom of speech, religion or political views, but for their prosperity. I easily started perceiving their attitude. In the beginning I learned what hard work is. At the college, I always wanted to be the best. I was fighting not only for good grades, but for the highest grade in class. I also became vice president of Economic and Business club. I was respected and know as a man of his word. Soon I start living such a dynamic live, that I had barely time to talk even to my parents that I had not seen almost four years. I sacrificed many things in the name of my success; my family, my true friends and even the free time that I used to have only to myself. Somehow I found a person that showed me what love is. She loved me in a way that no one else ever did. In the name of my goals I did not hesitate to sacrifice her too. Later on I started my career in one of the best financial companies Merrill Lynch. I was announced as the best intern they have ever had in the office. I became a member of Phi Theta Kappa, International honor society. I felt like nothing can stop me from achieving my goals. Suddenly I start asking myself; what have I became? That was the moment when I realized that the American culture has enormous influence. I perceived it and lost my own. I became a machine without feelings only with enormous ambition and high goals ready to sacrifice anything for them, even the ones that love me.
I lost the most beautiful love that somebody could have given me. I am still the ambitious man that I became here in this country. I know that I will reach my goals. But that is not the point, because many people can do it. What is hard to be done is on a way up towards your goal to keep the people that love you and care about you close to you, so when you reach the top you can have true people that you can share the joy with. The American culture showed something that I was not prepared; a live without my culture. Now I want to tell my father that there are many beautiful cultures but only one that makes you feel complete; your own one.

turkeey: I don’t think you have to worry too much, bio isn’t impacted at ucsd and the school rep said for bio we only need 3.0 or above and we’re pretty much in haha

^^If you’re majoring in bio because you are pre-med med schools are going to “haha” at that 3.0 as well.

Anyone Applying to School of Natural Resources at Berkeley!

Question guys. I know the school of L&S has the 7-breadth requirement, but I applied to the school of natural resources and I wonder if you guys know what the breadth requirements are in this school. On myBerkeleyApp under breadth requirement it only asks for English R1A and R1B, and then (English, if necessary). <—What does this mean??

Also at the end of the application it asks if I completed IGETC. I did not because I come from an out of state 4 year institution. Do you think I should list all of my breadth requirements that I think will transfer over instead, or just leave it be?
This is kinda urgent guys. Thanks

sstory no doubt, but he’s not asking about med school…

lol my gpa was only based of 36 units by the time i sent my application, so i’m definitely trying my best to raise my GPA right now :)

thanks for your help!

Applying to UCLA Biz Economics Fall 2009:

I am thinking I would really rather majoring in the joint math/econ degree, but I don’t have enough math since I am currently a biz econ degree. If I get accepted this year since I have already applied, would they look down upon me staying another year at the jc and reapplying. Can I reapply? I would also give them adequate notice. I am just wondering if there is any penalty to not accepting admission. I know I can’t get a defferal.

One more question, If I did this, what about my transfering credits? I know there is a max, and I would probably have way to many. What happens with this. Would I have to pick and choose and then retake some classes at UCLA.

sonikaS: good shot for UCSD, okay shot for UCB AND UCLA

To: UCB/UCLA
GPA: 3.7
Major: Psychology
EC: PTK/Honors/TAP

Any input would be great

SonikaS are u serious about applying to Stanford?

sonikas, you have no chance for stanford.

beardy: I think you’re in at UCLA. 70% on Berkeley maybe.

SonikaS: Should be in at UCSD. 50%for UCLA and Berkeley. 1% for Stanford based on your provided information (Highest I would chance someone for Stanford is 10%).

1% for Stanford? The admit rate at Stanford was about 1.7% last year. And that’s out of an applicant pool with wayyy higher than a 3.55 GPA. I say 0.15%.

Maybe they’ll accept him/her just for the fun of it. :)

.15% is too high imo, probably higher chances of being struck by lightning.

stanford… you crazy.

hhahaha, i love it when everybody is so blunt
