<p>Also when applying to competitive schools like UCB/LA/SD, does ethnic background and 1st generation college student matter? </p>

<p>hi guys, Im applying to uc’s this fall as well. As of right now, i don’t have a competitve gpa at all. I mean it is bad, but what I’m hoping will get me into uci is the fact that uc’s are gonna base my admission on grades up until FALL 08 right? if my gpa is low right now w/o counting fall 08 grades, Could I still apply and not get rejected b/c of my poor gpa? After this sem, I plan to have a 3.0 exact (from that, you can fig. how low my gpa is, 2.2). So, by the time I do an app update, my gpa will be higher and maybe I could get into uci? I was thinking of applying as a social psych major or social ecology. SOrry i’ve asked this question a couple times on differ threads, i just want to know my chances and if I should be applying or not. Thanks alot.</p>

<p>I’m confident I’ll get into UCSD and I’m pretty much happy with going there. Someone suggested I should try some other prestigious schools though, so I tossed UCLA in there.</p>
<p>S/F yuan! you know I originally got into this whole transferring-from-community-college gambit because I wanted to get into UCSD. UCB’s business admin pre-reqs allow me to transfer quicker so now that’s my goal. But damn do I really like San Diego. Have you been to UCLA’s campus at all? I’d never been till this summer and I was blown away. I like San Diego but the UCLA campus is the stuff, especially after having been stationed at The Stumps for 5 years almost.</p>

<p>I’ve been to the UCLA campus once and got to see a little bit of it. I’m hoping we’ll get demobed early enough so I can take a quick trip down to SoCal and get a better look at the campuses. I spent a lot of time wandering around the UCSD campus when we were in Pendleton for iloc courtesy of the Oceanside busses, but I could use a longer visit to UCLA.</p>
<p>5 years at the stumps is enough to make almost anywhere seem like the magical land of Oz. =P</p>

<p>I’m pretty sure transfer applicants are due in November while high school applicants are due in December.</p>
<p>BOTH prospective freshmen and transfers need to turn apps in by the end of november… its always been like that</p>
