Fall 2010 class data finally up

25-75 ranges

SAT 1150-1420 2009- 1170-1390 M+V
ACT 26-30 2009-26-30

Not much overall change--high end of SAT was up and low end down a bit maybe reflecting more OOS students from different backgrounds incl internationals.
No change in average GPA 3.69 UW

Percent scoring over 700 on Math went up from 37.5% to 44.7% but English *(CR) fell from 16.8% to 14.7%. More engineering majors/internationals??

But on the ACt the % scoring over 30 in Eng went up from 39.5 to 41% and math went way up from 34.2% to 38.1%.

So overall UW IS getting more high ability students using test scores.
At the low end (under 24 ACT) only 5.9% were in that group compared with 7.5% in 2009. Also the % taking the ACT went up a bit.

Thanks for the info.

Remember UW applicants- these are the middle half of the student body stats. 1/4 will have stats below these (and above) so don’t get discouraged if yours are a bit below them. Also- no guarantees of admission if your stats are in or above the middle half. There are other factors considered. Useful, though, in knowing if you are competitive.

Remember that most Wisconsin (and Minnesota, Illinois) residents are likely to have taken the ACT.
