Fall 2010 Honors Course Listings

Hi All! I know that there’s a listing for the Spring 2010 courses off the current students link on the honors college page. I also see that registration starts on March 22nd for graduate students, and on March 23rd for those students with priority registration. So my question is: when will the Fall 2010 honors course listings be available on the honors college page? A lot of the courses listed within the myBama site have TBD for days, times & instructors.
Thanks!

I’m surprised that the list isn’t posted yet on the Honors College’s website. Hopefully that will be up this week. I just went on myBama and a lot of the honors do have assigned times and instructors, but the independent study courses and the courses that change topics every semester do not. It’d be nice to have the course descriptions posted on the website ASAP becasue as you said, we start registration right after we get back from spring break.

Thanks SEA Tide!

Most of the UHP classes on mybama have day, time, and profs assigned.

Ok, so I have a dumb bunny question: how can a 1x/week class that meets for 1 hr & 40 minutes be a 3 credit class? The 3 sections of Values & Society taught by Dr. Halli seem to be falling that way.

I’m guessing that there is a service learning component of the course that will take up some time out of class. The course does have service learning listed as an attribute when you click on in. As you probably already know, a course hour is not 60 minutes per week, but rather 50 minutes a week, so 2 credits are accounted for with 1 hr 40 min (100min) of class time. I know that the registrar has rules that govern when classes can be held, but those sections are late enough to have few requirements as to time concerns.

My son got a very nice letter from Dr. Halli suggesting Honors courses that he might be interested in taking and directing him to the website where he can find the course listing.

RobD, D1 took a similar honors course with Dr. Halli’s wife that was Society and the Arts. She had to attend a certain number of arts performances in the community and respond to them for credit in that course. BTW, she really enjoyed the class and the discussions about the various art performances. As you probably know, there are always a lot of these types of opportunities in UA and the surrounding community. Good luck.

FYI, the paper course schedules mentioned in a previous thread do exist and are probably given to deans/advisors. I was walking around today and spotted a small pile of them outside a meeting room. Now if the honors course descriptions would be posted…

That’s what I’m thinking, too. I can also see them being used at faculty meetings or whatever…when discussions are being made about who is teaching what and when.

FYI the honors classes for the Summer & Fall of 2010 are now up on the current students page of the honors college page [Honors College - For Current Students](http://honors.cbhp.ua.edu/index.php?page=current-students)

I have been having a problem moving past page 3 even though it’s a 26 page document; it might be because I’m using a MAC, but I’ve been able to advance page by page by entering page numbers at the top of the pdf screen.

I’m glad the list has been posted. The PDF is working for me (Firefox/Windows), including being able to use the arrow keys to navigate.
