When do we find out which textbooks we need? There's a link in the Student Center, but it won't show anything.

make sure u set it show that ur computer will allow pop ups from that site. I was just looking at textbooks today. There super expensive. I cant find them from other places becuase their special editions. Im going to spend like 700 just this semester. Argh.

In addition to Amazon, check out the classified section on OneStart. It’s IU kids selling their textbooks/stuff to other IU Kids, so sometimes you can get a decent deal on special IU only books. Only catch is that you have to set up the meeting and exchange.

do you have to have ur books before classes start??

I’m going to order through TIS very soon. It’s gonna be like $240 total, plus the A100 book. What does that cost?

Thanks. I enabled pop-ups and I was lead right to the IU bookstore and a list of textbooks.

Here are links to IU bookstore and TIS. TIS is alot easier to use. You can get ISBN numbers from the websites and order used books and save lots of money.

A100 doesn’t have a textbook. There are handouts and powerpoints supplied.

Books don’t NEED to be purchased before classes, but you might be stuck paying for New textbooks if all the used are already sold.

Ok cool thanks. The book store website was claiming there was some kind of book but it wasn’t available and there was no price. I will be ordering my books tomorrow then.

I know someone said that all the used books might be taken by the time classes start, but other than that is there any other reason why it might be better to buy books ahead of time? Someone once told me that some professors don’t even use the books that are listed for their course. Would it be a good idea to get to class and look at their syllabus before buying?

Think about renting books this year. The IU Bookstore is trying out renting textbooks for the first time this year. Another site that is pretty population for textbook rentals is chegg.com

Also, as others have said, wait until you start classes then buy textbooks, so you don’t buy unnecessary add-ons.

get the ISBN for whichever textbooks you need, go to google, enter the number, and buy a ratty ol’ used book.

I only spent like $100 this semester :)
