Fall 2010 Transfer Decisions

I know that decisions will start coming out in mid-April, so I wanted to go ahead and post this thread.

When you get your decision, please post the following here:

1) College You Are Transferring From
2) GPA
3) College Applied To
4) Major
5) Date of Acceptance

Thanks and good luck to us all!!! :)

I’m waiting for the decision too and for sure to put all my stats if I get in.

Thanks! :)

Has anyone gotten a decision yet???

@ aridnepenthe

USofPlutarchy was accepted into McCombs. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/904152-mccombs-transfer-decision-received.html

Thanks! I wish people would post in this thread though…it would help keep everything organized. Maybe I’m just obsessive haha

USofPlutarchy seems to be the only one who gets in so far. And he got it few week ago!
So lucky…

parrag86 - "I was too accepted to COLA today yay!!!
my stats were 3.7 gpa with no community service but 4 yrs in the navy. i wrote only the 2 mandatory essays, my majors were history and spanish and i had 45 credits. i also had 2 letters of rec. i still cant believe i got in wooooohoooo! "

This was posted in the Official Fall 2010 Transfer thread

Accepted into Cockrell SOE-ChE. 47 units… 3.92 GPA, 10 AP Courses.

1) BCC (NJ)
2) 3.44
3) Communications (Film)
4) Film
5) N/A Rejected 4/15

Whatev. Texas wasn’t my first choice anyways. Luckily I didn’t sign up early for housing!

TOKYOFEVER you were most likely rejected because of your out of state status; glad you have other options open.

By any chance can you state:

how you thought your essays were?
Did you submit a resume?
Any community service?
Letters of recommendations?

Thanks and good luck in your future endeavors.

i the reason for tokyofever is because is was out of state.
i will be applying for the spring, and my GPA will probably be like a 3.44

1) College You Are Transferring From: Washington University in St. Louis
2) GPA: 3.56, 3.85 in my major, 3.8+ sophomore and junior year
3) College Applied To: College of Natural Sciences
4) Major: nondegree seeking; I intend to take computer science courses while at UT and then apply to a Master’s program. I’ll already have a degree in Poli Sci and Econ (as of may 2010)
5) Date of Acceptance: 4/16

how you thought your essays were? I was told my essay was well done–I like to think I can hold my own in writing.
Did you submit a resume? Yes–both a tech portfolio (my website) and that with my awards/activities/internships etc.
Any community service? Yes.
Letters of recommendations? None because I don’t have professors in the field I’m transferring to.

I’m out of state so I’m very thrilled.

Ahh thanks Manayy and big (much luck to you as well!). I thought everything I did was pretty okay, I guess state schools don’t like me (Texas + Rutgers), haha.

Essays - I thought they were stellar. Filled out all three. Purpose: How I attended prestigious art-based schools for the first 13 years of my life. Issue: Avatar the Last Airbender and their casting of Caucasians in the role of minorities. Extra Essay (C): Family/Finance Issues. I’ve gotten A’s on ALL of my essays in college, so I’m confused here.

Resume - 2 years working for the same PR firm, 1 1/2 years at for the gov’t maintaining ancient files. Summer teaching kids at the library, 3 months filming a PSA, church service, school fundraisers/projects, etc.

EC’s - VP of FBLA, Corporate Liaison Anime Club, Editor of Yearbook, Academy of Finance, Book Club, Autism Club, etc. + NSHSS, NHR, Student Ambassador

LOR - One from my Screenwriting professor (Excellent!) and another from my supervisor when shooting the PSA for Central Park.

So I’m just a little ??? at Texas. What more did I need to do?! I guess it was my grades. Slightly disappointing. Good luck to all of those waiting!

1) Austin CC
2) 3.56
3) Education
4) Elementary k-6
5) Rejected 4/14
Extra: No ECs, average essays (or maybe they sucked, since I didn’t get in). I’ve always been praised for my writing, I don’t think they were bad…oh well.

It’s a little bit of a bummer but I’m in at 2nd choice so it’s going to be fine.

ETA: I’m really happy for everyone that got in!

Does anyone know if it is easier to transfer into COLA or College of Education??
Thanks!

I’ve heard that both are the easiest schools in get into at UT. If you want to teach elementary, you have to choose COE. If you want to teach Secondary or Middle, you have to choose COLA.

…I think. I could be wrong. Good luck with whatever you choose!

oo I’m actually applying to COLA for psychology, but my GPA is only a 3.47 and I am afraid now of getting on seeing that you got rejected with a HIGHER GPA…

: / I guess i’ll have to wait and see…

Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get in.

My mistake was being forced to go to school (OOS) at 18 and failing a Computer Design II class. ACC didn’t accept the credit (so my F was forgotten in my current 3.56) but I’m pretty sure UT factored that F that I got 4 years ago into the admissions process.

Wow 3.56 getting rejected for COLA? G’damn. I’m worried. I have the same exact GPA applying for COLA… AHhhh…hh…■■■… :(
