Hey everyone, I'm sure you're all sick of seeing stats and "will I get in?!?!?!?!" type stuff, but as an out-of-stater I am just CURIOUS (as opposed to a life and death situation) as to what all of you think of my stats and if I have a good chance of getting in. As a side note I'm currently in college in one of the state universities of Iowa.

I've also held 5 jobs and have never NOT had a job since my sophomore year of HS. One of which was as an assistant to a lawyer, and the two I currently have as an assistant to the scholarship coordinator in the College of Business (CBA) of my current institute and receptionist for academic advising.

First Choice: COLA
Second Choice: Undergrad Studies (regret that now)

Thanks for the reply, I’m just a little nervous since I’m out of state and all. I really am looking forward to next year (if i get in, of course).

You listed 17+ lines of background information, but for your purposes, all UT will care about is your first line (“3.85 GPA in 33 hours”) And you’re done. You’re in. It’s virtually guaranteed. At least based on everything we’ve heard from everyone.

Bad news. I just looked at the hours and I don’t have all 30 credit hours that TRANSFER.

Are kids that have to wait to send in the 30 hour completed transcript at the end of the school year less likely to be considered for admission?

haha thanks Vicky. I turned in my housing application last night. My grades may drop my GPA to a 3.82 after this semester but that shouldn’t matter I would think. Any recommendations on dorms to live in?

That’s funny and quite a coincidence you are from U of I (GO HAWKS!) my brother goes there and is graduating this semester. I came from Valley High (I’m sure you’ve heard of it at UI) and all my friends go to Iowa and ISU for the most part. I only know one other kid at UT and I graduated with him. Why are you leaving UI? Just curious…

How are your grades and what not? What country are you from?!

Haha, I do see your high school’s name often on Facebook lol…
My GPA is 3.95, however UT only accepts a few international students each year, which is what I’m worried about :(

UI is alright and I’m proud of Hawkeyes! But UT is always my dream school

UNI is where I go. I am leaving because I just cannot relate to the kids here, the town, I have higher ambitions than most everyone, I just feel disconnected from where I am and were I want to be. I could list more, but that’s the gist of it all really.

Oh…I see. I totally understand you and I think you made a right decision to leave for UT!
UT admissions office will recognize your effort and ambitions. Again, I believe you got a BIG chance to get admitted :)

Now what we should do is to keep working hard. Never stop pursuing your dream because you deserve a better life.

Let me know if there’s any good news coming to you from UT. I should wait till end of May to get to know their decision as an international student :(

Thanks for the kind words, even though I think you are more qualified with a 3.95 lol. I have to wait until the end of May too but once I know I’ll definitely post on here. Best of luck! Keep me updated as well.
