<p>This might sound dumb...but I just wanted to make sure that I am supposed to start over a brand new application right? Even though I have applied as a freshman in the past?</p>
<p>The reason why I ask this is because before the application opened up to transfers, I was curious if the personal statement topics changed. I used my freshman ID app to log onto the app process to see if I could find out if the personal statements had changed. Later on I got the general email from columbia saying "welcome, glad you are applying, etc etc".</p>
<p>This wouldn't affect my application in any way would it? because I'm going to use the same email I that I used for my freshman app, for my junior transfer app.</p>

I just tried making a new app with my current email(the same one used freshman year), and I got this:
"Based on the information you have provided, an account matching your criteria already exists. Creating a duplicate account for yourself will make it more difficult to manage your application. To receive the login information for your existing account, please click on the "email" button, below, and you will receive an email with this information. Once you receive the email you can log into your existing account. Clicking on "continue & create new account" will create a new account for you."</p>
