Fall 2011 acceptances - new

@xtinachao

I know for sure not everybody gets a call.

@lovetocamp

People from everywhere get them.

Does anyone know the criteria for getting called? Is it really regents and URMs?

Its random from what i’ve heard

@JeSuis

I actually just heard that too recently. Either way, you shouldn’t be too concerned about getting a phone call. Admission decisions will be out soon enough.

It’s entirely random, stop speculating.

It it’s random, that’s kind of ridiculous…

People have said from pretty legit sources its not really random and they call the highly qualified and minority applicants.

I was called and I’m out of state btw.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Well one of the first guys who got called was white and not highly qualified so I don’t know what to think really.

Hi guys,

My sister is a current UCSD student and is a member of the Scholar’s Society. The Scholar’s Society is making calls to people who were accepted as Regent’s Scholars today, tomorrow, and Saturday. However, I’m not sure if they’re calling only Regent’s Scholars; they may be randomly calling others as well.

More info here:
[Scholars Society UCSD - Home](http://www.scholarssocietyucsd.com/)

She told me that decisions for everyone else will most likely be online after the calls are finished.

I would assume that we will hear back from UCSD this weekend or early next week.
Good luck, everyone! :)

my call today was around 7:40 PM today, and I live in Northern California
The person that called me said that I got into Regents, so yes, its possible that they are only calling regents people today, tomorrow and saturday

Wow, I haven’t been here for ages.

Anyways, I work for undergraduate admissions and I am currently calling specific students to congratulate them on their acceptance. We have an early calling campaign from March 16-19th.

“Log onto MyApplication (myapplication.ucsd.edu) late in the day on March 19 to receive further information about next steps, accepting our offer of admission, deadlines, see the preliminary financial awards, Admit Day, etc.”

Good Luck and hope to see you all on Admit Day on April 9th!

Also, we are calling students who are Regent Scholars, and students who are qualified for the SPACES/BSU (Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service) Overnight Program.

@clarkforbes - do you know why only some students are getting calls, and others are not? what is it based on? also, how do you have to qualify for the overnight program? any info would be appreciated!!!

I got a call, but I wasn’t home to answer my cell phone ><
The call was private and a voice message was left, but it was just a beep. Now I’m really curious if it was SD or not, but people have said that the calls aren’t private…

@VSmart… he already answered most of your questions. If you got a call, you’re a regents scholar or you qualify for the program. If you didn’t fall into either category, then you aren’t going to get a call.

And as for qualifying for the overnight program… you’re either a minority or you aren’t. Its as simple as that

oh phew… i know im not regents and im not a minority… i still have a chance… keepin it strong for less then 24 hours!!

UCSD is 50% asian, all others are minorities…

Has an overall decisions thread been created yet? I got a call yesterday for acceptance/Regents and was wondering where to post stats. Are people only going to create it when all decisions come out?

Technically, whites are underrepresented at UCSD. Where’s my call!?

still can’t log in. fuuuuuuu what’s going on?!

helpmepleasee:

it works fine for me… but it might be cuz its 2 hours after you posted.

what time exactly is decisions up? late in day meaning 8:01 AM ? that is pretty late, it’s 8 hours after midnight [technically referred to as day]. hehe LOL!
