Fall 2011 Acceptances

I guess it might be a little too early to start a post, but why not just chat?

What major did you guys apply to? Which college did you rank as 1st?

I applied to Bioengineering (no idea what I was thinking…), second major was Earth Sciences. I originally ranked Warren first, but I decided the GEs weren’t what I wanted. I emailed them in early December and now Muir is first :)

UC San Diego is my first choice. If I’m rejected I’m likely going to my local Community College to do TAG.

I applied as an economics major. I was initially considering UC Davis as one of my top choices, but now I’m leaning towards UCSD because I’ve heard they have a really good economics program. I also really think the 6 college system is unique.

It’s quite far from where I live now (SF Bay Area), but San Diego seems like it has the same climate and feel of SF so I might feel more at home there. Berkeley is out of my league so I’m shooting for UCSD. We’re only two weeks away from the first batch; I’m glad February has only 28 days :P

I thought all decisions were out around March 15?

Last years decisions came mid-march. The lower UC’s send their decisions early March, top ones late march.

Don’t worry about having BioE as your first choice. If they reject that, they’ll just put you in as undeclared. No harm done.

Yeah, I know they don’t admit by major. I just meant I have absolutely no desire to major in anything bio related :p

^ Hah. its really not

http://www.be.ucsd.edu/files/be/Bioengineering_2007.pdf

bioE was is way more physics/math/engineering than anything else

Oh wow haha. Well either way, I have no idea what I want to major in…

I’m so anxious for my decision!
I ranked Revelle as first… a family tradition.

I know, I’ve never been more nervous for anything in my life…

Anyone else get supplements today?

No, did they send you an email? What are your stats?

I’m just distracting myself until the first batch comes out, haha.
I put my major as Cognitive Science / second Computer Science.
Muir was my first place, I think. I wasn’t too concerned with the individual colleges to begin with, but now I’m pretty pleased with my pick (lucky guess?)

I’m out of state so I’ve been pretty out of touch with all things UC until last August.

"The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine has been notified by our Undergraduate Admissions Office that you have applied for fall undergraduate admission and you meet the requirements to apply to the Undergraduate Medical Scholars Program.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of and extend an invitation to apply to our Undergraduate Medical Scholars Program, which is open to all California high school seniors, in any major, if they meet our minimum academic requirements: 4.00 GPA (as weighed by Undergraduate Admissions) along with a 2250 SAT or 34 ACT."

I’m going to assume that this is a good sign.

Hm… just got the Medical Scholars invite too… not sure if this is an acceptance but on the instruction pdf it says “all high school seniors admitted to UCSD…are invited to apply.” I don’t know what to think!

congrats guys! yeah i think you guys got in if you got that invite.

just got this too… too bad i recently changed my mind and don’t want to be a doctor anymore. Polisci all the way

2nd pdf says
“Students accepted to an undergraduate degree program at UCSD are also eligible to apply concurrently to the UCSD School of Medicine.”

what does that mean?

So nervous! I feel 50/50 about getting into UCSD, so I’m really excited to see what they decide. I’m visiting campus for the first time on Sunday :)

Oh, I wasn’t really sure when the decisions came out. Bummer. That’s way too long for me to wait.

And I didn’t get the email since my SAT is a few hundred points lower than 2250, lol. Did you guys apply in a medical field major?
