he just means he wouldnt have taken AP english (I’m glad I took AP Junior year haha, im good at it and i like english, i thought it was useful too, for taking before AP English 4)

if i knew they only weighed 8 semesters i would have only taken 4 classes AP/III honors and the rest normal classes -_- but i had to go and 6 huh…

I think it’s a great thing they took AP English…UCs only use the sophomore and junior year(that’s only 4 semesters), so it doesn’t matter (when it comes to gpa) whether you took honors or not freshman year. So you could have taken 4 semesters worth of CC between your soph and jun years and still have it all weighted. Any more, then you don’t get the extra point

but they still see that you took those classes

Both of my calls weren’t restricted one area code 818 which is north hollywood I guess and 858 which is san diego but both with UCSD in the caller ID. I think other people were just speculating that the restricted numbers were them but not for sure.

yes, 4 years of english are required, but not honors/AP english. I was in honors english all 4 years, but looking back I regret taking 3H. I would have still taken AP this year though. All the 3H teachers are just plain horrible…

I think you guys are confusing semesters and classes. I mean, of course I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it

lauren, they mean 8 semesters as in 4 classes. 1 class = 2 semesters.

and tootsie, that’s why I said when it comes to gpa

yeah i was tellling crzazn cause he was saying that he shouldnt have taken extra APs

and they take into consideration how hard your course load is

oh ****, maybe they do count classes as 2 sem each. Sorry guys. It doesn’t really effect me though, for some reason none of my 10th grade classes counted as honors (only AP offered to soph was history and I couldn’t fit it in, so regular history for me…)

I don’t know…sometimes I feel as though they dont really look at “rigor”. I mean, I know they do to some extent, but I had a senior friend who graduated in 08 and went on to berkeley. he wasn’t taking the most rigorous classes at all, but he got a 4.0 UW every year.

i didn’t even need to take any “regular honors” classes either (chem hnrs, english II hnrs) -_- seriously screwed myself way over

oh…while we’re here, anyone want to help me with calculus homework? haha :)

lim as h approaches 0 of [cos(pi/2+h)-cos(pi/2)]/h

i think its derivative of cos(pi/2) = -sin(pi/2) = -1
50% sure lol

8 semesters = 4 classes, 2 semesters each… lol… capped for a reason :T

i am prettty sure you are right dacrzazn

what reason? :

thanks guys. I know I learned this in calc 1…but i pretty much forgot everything hehe. I blame the stress ucsd is putting on me!!

i think thats wrong. it should be derivative of cos (x/2) when x is pi. so derivative of cos (x/2) is negative sin (x/2) all over 2. then plug in pi for x, so its negative sin (pi/2) all over 2 = -1/2
