Fall 2011 Admission Decisions

I took the GSAE right before the deadline for EA

Random: Did you take it on Saturday Feb 26th?

@ baxter I took it around that time period you took it, very very close to the deadline.

I hope you guys hear something (very positive) soon! Then they can get to mine and hopefully inform me of the same positive news!

I wonder how many applicants applied EA. Hmm

I took the gsae on the 26 and it was posted within a week. But is good to call and let them know you tool it and they will update it

Brohlijk: Do you mean Feb or March 26th?

They’re gonna review the apps no matter what the online status says, right? Are they considering my app incomplete until someone at admissions connects my test results with my app? Would calling to have them update the status possibly speed up the process in any way?

Deb 26 th. Hope to hear soon the wait is nuts already!

James,
I would not worry too much (or at all, actually) about the online status indications. They have historically been very slow to update for some. When I received the phone call offering me admission, my GSAE had still not displayed online. Similarly, my transcripts, which the admissions office at GS assured me had all arrived safely, were very slow to show up on the online system. When I inquired about it the admissions office at GS confirmed to me that the online system can indeed be very slow to update.

Just to verify, no one on this board has heard an admission decision at this point, correct?

I had all my transcripts and scores sent back in January. Shortly after I completed my application on February 27th, all my materials were updated as Official/Final (with the exception of “Provisional/Pending” status on my current transcript) and I still have not heard a decision. I’m expecting that rejection letter tomorrow!

I’m trying to remember who was active on this board that is mysteriously missing. Perhaps someone got in and they have been celebrating all weekend and neglected to let us know, ha.

juniper i dont think you would have heard yet even if your materials have been in for two months! hang in there!

I don’t think anyone has heard yet, sure they would be celebrating but they would also be gloating and bragging

and yes I check the mail every day and let out a sigh of relief when I don’t see Columbia blue

and yes I check the mail every day and let out a sigh of relief when I don’t see Columbia blue

Thanks MC! I owe a drink to some people on here, and you’re definitely one of 'em!

With all of my bills being paid online, I usually look forward to good news in my mailbox. I totally agree Baxter, the last thing I want to see right now is a Columbia letter in my mailbox! FedEx only please!

I think rejection letters come much later than the acceptances. I am pretty sure that acceptances will come around May 1st
“guaranteed” decision deadline. So most likely either 2 weeks before May 1st, or 1 week or two after at the latest.

Random: From what I read in past threads and when you apply it says 4-6 weeks, so you can expect the decisions to start coming soon if you had all your materials in on time.

@baxter2211

You’re right. However, I would like to point out that when I contacted GS a while ago, they said that decisions would most likely be released 6 to 8 weeks after all the materials were in.

Just thought some of you should keep that in mind while waiting.

Cheers.

Some posters from the EA Fall '10 cycle received answers 4 weeks after the deadline, while some of those who took the GSAE at the end of March were notified by mid-April. I’m not sure how much the new Science Po deal-o delayed the “normal” GS EA Fall decisions, if at all. But I’m willing to put my money on decisions going out sometime this week. If you get accepted, please feel free to celebrate/gloat all over this thread!!!

IM surprised nobody was called in for an interview. I mean, thats great if they can send decisions ASAP, that would put an end to half my worries, but i kind of doubt it. If 4-6 weeks was the case, then I would expect Fed-ex to be at my door step as early as next week ;D. However, im not as worried about acceptance than I am about financial aid. You can be accepted, but not receiving enough funding would be a bummer.

I also wnet to an information session at the beginning of February with Kari Razdow, and I remember her explaining that they were not going to start reviewing applications until a week or two after the deadline due to a couple of seminars that were out of state etc etc. So they are at least going to be a week or two behind everything i think.
