I tried to log on to the financial aid page but I could not get in. Does this mean I am rejected? sob

I mean, you’re welcome to speculate all you’d like.

But, one of the other things you’re assuming is that the Deans at Columbia have inadvertently created a way to reveal admissions decisions before they decide to make them known. Doesn’t that seem unlikely? I mean, they’ve been at this for a while.

It wouldnt seem to make sense to allow a rejected individual to log in but at the same time some school have a slow financial aid process specially if you are dealing with FAFSA, by no means am I putting my signature on this information. I was told this by a school official at NYU. Now if anyone knows the correct information please correct me. To me having plenty experience with government paperwork process I dare to assume that you would be allowed to reach financial aid just to get the ball rolling that way you will be set for Fall. Again this is my opinion with a pinch of
Speculation and two tsp of off the record school official statement. :)

Maybe HJ can clear this up, he has some good gouge about CU GS

I’m sticking with my last post.

Also, it’s crunch time. So, this’ll all be moot by the time letters reach their recipients on Tuesday or Wednesday.

HJ I have a quick question, are the phone calls the method of notification of acceptance or does it varies with emails and Fedex?

I just received email of acceptance! They said they called earlier in the week (I presume Tuesday), but evidently I missed it. Packet is on the way.

I think that they like to try calling first. Then, if they’re not able to get through, they may just FedEx or FedEx/email. That’s been the trend that I’ve been able to identify. Of course, there have been people who have said that they’ve gotten an acceptance package without a phone call - which blows my theory out of the water.

Thank you HJ and congratulations to Raptor! I also want to congratulate a good friend of mine you also got accepted today him and I took the Exam together! He’s not on the forum but I want to give him a congrats!

@hellojan: When you say letters will reach their recipients by Tuesday or Wednesday, do you mean rejection letters?

congrats to raptor and brohli’s friend!!!

Dreamchild, it seems like the last wave of all acceptances and rejections is going out May 1st. Nobody should be writing themselves off yet.

Thanks Hellojan. What puzzles me is why some applicants receive acceptances before may 1 as if they are a more qualified applicant?

hey guys, just got an email from Columbia saying that I was accepted. Weird, because I called them a couple of days ago and they said that they only notify over the phone, and that they will leave a message if the applicant does not answer. Either way good luck to the rest of you who are still waiting…
Just in case my stats are:
3.8 from 33 credits from community college and 15 from a four year university
high school was like a 2.8 or something. Really bad and my SAT’s were like 560,530,560 for reading, math, and writing respectively.
I also had great letters of recommendation though.
ec’s were nothing amazing
University
VP of environmental club
philosophy club
AMSA
research club
volunteer was also minimal:
clean ups at various places
Also, I spent five years in the Marine Corps after I graduated, and when I was discharged i started school immediately. I had all of my packet turned in by Jan. 13 just in case anyone was wondering.
Anyways, I write that because I was interested in the stats that people had when they were applying. I hope this helps someone. Once again, good luck to all!!

Semper Fi Macho and congrats devildog

That’s awesome Macho! Congrats!!!

Dreamchild, schools that use a rolling admissions method do typically admit the best and most qualified applicants first. That’s why they’ll tell you to submit your application as early as possible - the more time that goes by, the less seats available for applicants to compete over.

However, GS doesn’t set a limit to its class size. So, I can’t even begin to guess how their system works.

Thanks Hellojan.

I hope I get in. I am just really relying on my essay to get me in because my stats aren’t that great.

I am backkkk!!!..lol
took a short hiatus, oh the breath of finals, well, had a 2 exams today…oh my tired brain

btw…Congrats to Raptor & Macho (and anyone else I missed if I did)!! whoooo hoooo!! Go Go Go Go Gooooo guys! well deserved! party at the forum!! lol :D

Double dare…Who, of the new GS’ers, can find Mr.Moose? He’s gotta be hiding somewhere in CU

On anothe note, if I don’t hear from GS by Monday, I am calling at 8:30am on the dot on Tuesday morning! …lol

That’s a good idea invic. GS said that the decisions will be out by then, then if so then they should be able by then to tell you whether or not you got in. But then again if I were admissions I wouldn’t want to break any bad news to applicants.
