ugh… i got like no love ($$$) from Santa Clara… guess i’m going to UC San Diego!

The lady at the financial aid office said that this year, santa clara did not get as many funds as the previous years, so they did not have as much money to give out to the students… i’m sad, i really wanted to go to scu but $50 grand is just too much!

NO love shown here either. Really disappointed with SCU on this. Son with great stats applied to other comparable schools and received substantial merit awards, and no merit here. None. The big bummer is we bought non-refundable plane tickets for Preview Day in a few weeks (had to lock in the tickets as prices were going up every day) and we have no interest in going now. Funny, it was son’s call to not go. He denied the $4,500 grant, so maybe someone else can use it. Really, is an offer of $4,500, when the bill is $55,000, even worth offering? Totally disappointed. Looks like the class of 2015 WILL be rich kids from Cali.

did anyone else notice that they didn’t give too much money this year? i pretty much got nothing and no scholarship. Also, what do they do with the grant money and work study and such for those students who decline to attend by may 1st? do they add more to those students who will attend? or just save it for the school?

^when i talked to the financial aid lady, she said that they already considered that some people were going to decline so they based the money on that. To be honest, Santa Clara just did not have much money to give this year so it sucks for us… Pretty much the amount that was given to us will be how much money we get. I doubt that we’ll get more money.

Similarly, if you’re accepted, but know that you’re not going to be attending Santa Clara, please let the admissions office know ASAP, so that people like my d, for whom SCU is her 1st choice school, but is currently waitlisted, might be able to get in! As common courtesy, that should be true for all schools you’re accepted to, but know you won’t attend.

hey everyone, just a quick question for any transfers out there that applied. how long after you submitted your app did you get an email to set up an ecampus account? i submitted my app last week on thursday and still have not gotten any email from santa clara.

My daughter did not get an ecampus account right away, especially when comparing turn around times with the CSU applications. Expect to wait another few weeks if I recall correctly. Even after she got the ecampus account, it was the most boring, almost blank webpage with access to nada. (Once accepted it was obviously full-featured.)

I got accepted and my stats are
3.7 unweighted GPA
I took AP Spanish, Ap Gov, AP US history, AP european history, AP English Lit, and AP english language…and the rest of my classes all of highschool were honors

also my SAT score was a 1970

I have friends with less difficult schedules and lower SAT scores who got in also though

college acceptances these days are 50% being a desirable candidate and 50% being lucky

yeah, shekki, i received a $33,000 grant from SCU. That, combined with my Cal Grant, Pell Grant, and Federal Supplemental Grant, covers my entire cost of attendance for freshman year. so much for rich Cali kids. next time, try not to make so many assumptions.
