So I'm living overseas and can't make it to CalSo or even get to California in much time before school starts. I feel very out of the loop here. I'd like a few things confirmed since there's apparently no official calendar for dates that isn't vague.

August 21 is move in date. So preferrably I should be in Berkeley, CA by this time?
August 22 is the start of the orientation?

Should I be around prior to the 21st for anything else?

Thank you guys! I need to order my tickets now before the get even more expensive.

You live overseas but are you an international student? If so you have international orientation which I don’t know if it’s required or not. There’s no orientation for “regular” students but there’s welcome week activities. [Welcome Week 2011](http://welcome.berkeley.edu/)

But classes start on August 25th so anytime between the 22nd and the 25th is fine. Just give yourself time to get your school supplies/meet people in the dorms.

What unit are you living in? If you’re Unit-Triple (since I asked them), it’ll be August 20 at 10 AM. You should email Resident Hall and ask them for the time if you live in a different unit/type.

If you have already confirmed that it’s August 21, then it might be 10 AM on that date too.

I’m actually suppose to be in-state. For sure, I am not international.
So I guess the welcome week will have to be my orientation.

MsterB7K, I found the date on the Cal housing website. But as it’s just as vague as everything else, I wasn’t sure what it meant.
I’m in Bowles unfortunately. >< You took my Unit triples spot didn’t you!?

So basically I should definitely be in Berkeley, CA on the 20th or 21st?

You should move in on your assigned move in day which is, I guess, the 21st. You’ll get your key, meet your roommates, and within the first few days, have a floor meeting with your RA. I don’t know anything about the ‘international orientation’ but if you are supposed to be an in-state student, you were supposed to notify the school you would not be attending orientation during the summer about a month ago.

You should probably check telebears and/or bearfacts to see when your assigned date is for registering for classes. That’s the one important thing about orientation. Since you’re not going, they just give you a date after all the orientations are over for you to register for classes online. Other than that, most of the stuff you do at orientation is pretty useless anyway, other than making friends. So you won’t be too out of the loop.

Lol I’m surprised you didn’t get unit - triple :(! I thought most people preferred double or better! But yes, you should be there by the 20th or 21st :p! I believe triple is 20th and all other 21st.

Thanks ringo. You mean CalSo? Yeah I already said I can’t attend.

MisterkB7K, well, I knew my chances for doubles would be highly unlikely, so I set all of my options except the last one to Unit triple. Shouldn’t have followed my statistical instincts.

Nevermind misread something.
