The Merit Award came in the mail not online.

@NEcollegebound-
i was accepted into nursing at uri in early dec
i have a 3.5/4
and 1100/1600 and 1650/2400
i received 30,000$; 7,500 a year

My S was accepted and received $4,000 a year. Frankly, we were shocked at the low offer.

I had heard they had cut way back on MA offers so to see these figures on here is surprising-are you in or out of state?

His stats are higher than any stats I have seen on here-it really makes no sense why his offer was so low. I don’t mean that to be rude-I just am trying to make sense of this offer and it can’t be because of stats.

^ wow that is weird…
i’m from nj so out of state…
i was vice president of my varsity biology team and i had 100+ hrs volunteering at a hospital… maybe is was the EC’s?
werid!

Nope-lots of EC’s as well. I just asked him and it seems $4,000 is the maximum any of his friends got so maybe they hold it against him for being in-state.

Don’t get me wrong-I am happy for you guys. I will find out why he got comparatively little but I certainly don’t begrudge anyone getting more-good for you. :)

thank you, wow i didn’t know they did that
it must be because of location!

Sorry for my newbieness but here goes. URI is one of five picks for my S (hes my oldest so this is all new to me). We are in-state and his stats are: top 5% of class, 1950/2400 SAT, treasurer of student council w/other ECs. He got accepted to the engineering department and received $4000/yr MA. To my way of thinking, thats about 40% of in-state tuition. The same percentage of MA for OOS tuition would be around $10,000/yr. Given that, Im OK with an OOS student with lesser stats getting $7500/yr. Its all about the net, isnt it? I dont think you can compare these MAs by themselves but please tell be if Im wrong. Were still waiting on the MA from two other State Us (Rutgers and UNH) so we can compare them percentage-wise with URI.

Hi townie… with my son getting the 14,000 a year in merit aid… I assumed it was to bring the cost to what in state tuition would be to try and get him to attend. He is still considering it… Good luck with Rutgers and UNH…

I got my acceptance decision today!! Accepted in Electrical Engineering!

I got a Centennial Scholarship worth $14000 per year.

I was wondering if I can manage a cheap apartment near URI! It can probably reduce my costs further. I’m an international so cost is an issue.! Any help?

Oh and my stats. 1970/2400 SAT 3.9 GPA Top 10% Effective and serious ECs.

Accepted to pharmacy with 14,000 per year Centennial Scholarship :D

Accepted Journalism! 10,000 year merit aid. From NH. Stats GPA 4.0 SAT 1770.

Is $14000 per year the Max amount that they gave out? It said Centennial scholarship ranges to Full Tuition…

does anyone know when regular decisions start being sent out??

^^ I think decisions for RD will come out in March. I guess so…

Is that the earliest? I applied in early November, and I really don’t know if I can wait until March to find out.

Hi all,

I applied November 28th. Looked on ecampus today and saw I was accepted.

Can’t wait for letter in mail, I applied for PharmD and hope I got in.

@lalaaa… Did you apply RD in NOV?? You could have done an EA and got yourself a merit schol. But yes…I think all results will come in during March and you will be among the firsts to hear about your decision.

@Jacdes. Congrats!

Yeah I applied for Early Action, but my transcript and SAT scores got there two days late so I was switched to regular decision.

@lalalaaa. The EA people will hear about their decisions before end of Jan. So I guess you will hear your decision of acceptance in around the End of Feb and Early March!

just checked status-my D was accepted today, but it doesn’t say into nursing specifically. That is the 1st choice, but she put a secondary. Would it say accepted if it was for her secondary? Does anyone know how long before the letter comes in the mail?
