Does anyone have any insight as to the capacity of this major for Fall 2011? Is the major full as of mid-October?

I went to the departmental presentation the other night and I believe the number that was given was 130 freshman applicants are accepted into the program. By sophomore year they make room for 150, that doesn’t only mean they allow 20 transfers because of those 130 some will not make it through their lower level engineering classes so it will allow for more than 20 transfers.

you can get a lot of information by digging in these statistical reports

[Texas A&M Student Enrollment and Demographics Reports, Data, Statistics](http://www.tamu.edu/oisp/student-reports/)

Well if I cannot get admitted straight into Petroleum Engineering as a freshman, I am probably just going to attend the University of Oklahoma. Does anyone know if the major has reached full capacity at this point though? As in, has anyone possibly gotten a rejection letter due to PetE being full at this point?

I thought in the past someone posted a link as to the status of each engineering major for admissions and which ones were full. I’m looking for it but not having any luck. Maybe someone else knows where it is.

Here’s the link I used: [ENGE Status of Space Available](http://essap.tamu.edu/enge.htm)

It hasn’t been updated though.

Thanks again TxAggie. Do you have those statistics for Fall 2011? Or are they not available yet?

I don’t know of a way to tell how many people have been accepted and how many spots remain open currently in a program for future semesters.

They just updated the page as of November 24, 2010.

It is unbelievable to me how fast BME fills up each year.

Yes I noticed that as well. Doesn’t the BME department have a new building being built as we speak?

Yes I believe they do.
