My dd received her package on Monday. It was about a 3 week turnaround for her. Good luck to all as they decide where they will be attending!

I checked my onestart account today and saw that I was accepted. I haven’t gotten the email or mail packet yet, but still my first college acceptance.

congrats 10upper! Could you please share your stats? In or out of state? When did you apply? Thanks

Package arrived last week. OneStartstatus changed after 2 1/2 weeks of app & transcripts got to IU. E-mail received 2 days later, and US Mail package about 5 days after that.

ACT 32, Unweighted 3.95, weighted 4.2, 4 AP classes, 3 sport athlete all 4 years (anticipated), student government, 2 significant not-for-profit experiences.

Anyone know how long it takes IU to acknowledge they received a form on the electronic status? My D’s last needed form was mailed Sept. 21st, but it still is listed online today as missing. I wonder if we should call IU and ask or have our counselor re-send the form? We are headed to IU Monday for a second visit, and would love to have the admission decision by then.
My D’s friend (ACT 25, top 20% of class) got her email acceptance last weekend, about 3 and a half weeks after everything should have been received. I imagine the timeframe is slowing down now that lots of paperwork is pouring in.

Accepted today! OOS, 4.2 GPA and 32 ACT, really good ECs. I’ve only gotten a notification on OneStart, no email or admit packet yet. Super excited, but one question. Does anyone know if the acceptance on OneStart mean I got into Kelley or just IU?

Does IU ask for an essay/personal statement? I’m working on my application, and I can’t seem to find where I can submit it.

Instate applicant.
Weighted GPA 4.008
Unweighted GPA ~ 3.85
ACT 32 (33 superscore)
2 AP classes, 2 ACP classes (college courses through IU)
Top 10% of class
Highlight of EC’s is over 200 hours of community service.

And Mom2009, there are no essays/personal statements for the application.

However, I must now write 3 essays and get 2 teacher recommendations for the “selective scholarship” application since I met their criteria for it.

I applied around September 10\11 as well.

My D applied back sept.9. Had all documents in by Sept 15. Should I have not heard back by now or do you think only a select few with outstanding apps have. We sent it super early thinking there’s a quick turn around. Just getting nervous.

names1 - Don’t think you should be worried. IU website said it takes 4 - 8 weeks after all the documents have been received.

MidwestMom17–I tried to post this yesterday, but it said I was not logged in and my post disappeared. Very frustrating thing about this site.

In answer to your question about calling IU. I’ve posted this before, but it is worth repeating on this thread. The OneStart account often does not show the receipt of scores, forms, transcripts, etc. until it shows acceptance. I think IU enters them in batches as the information comes from numerous places and has to be matched up. It makes sense to some extent to do it all at once with the acceptance email. Three years ago we ran into this with our D and the same held true for our son this year. I wouldn’t worry yet.

About the same time your D submitted her application IU apps were free for instate students. For a few days each year the state encourages all colleges to waive app fees. Given the timing of her app, I would guess that quite a few apps were coming in about the same time within a few days.

Here is the final time frames for son this year:
App–submitted Aug. 2
Test Scores requested to be sent Aug. 2
Counselor form and transcript requested the week of Sept 7 or so. IU likely received it by the 12th (Earlier I said the 19th, but I think I was off. Son saw counselor a number of times at the beginning of the year regarding schedule changes so I’m not 100% sure at which meeting he made his request.)
OneStart shows acceptance on Sept 21
Received Acceptance letter and SSA on Sept. 24
Received invitation to Hutton Honors College Oct 4. (Note: we were at a scholarship day last week and were told Hutton sent out the first batch last week. The time frame maybe different as IU admissions and Hutton becomes busier)

I was accepted a couple days ago for spring semester. OOS transfer student from California.

RRAH, Do you think it helps when you are applying a sibling? My son is a freshman there.

names–IU asks the question about currently enrolled sibs and any family members that are alum, but according to their own information, they don’t really use this information most of the time.

IU is numbers driven. According to the Common Data Set, the three most important pieces of information are the rigor of HS classes (does an applicant meet the admissions standards?), GPA, and class rank. After that they look at test scores. Everything else might be considered for those applicants that are borderline.

Class rank tends to be de-emphasized on this website, but it seems that it’s more important to IU than many recognize. Instate students should be in the top 40% and OOS students should be in the top 30%.

I’m guessing IU only uses sibling or family alum information if a number of candidates are equal in other areas. That’s not to say that IU wouldn’t consider the children or grandchildren of a million dollar benefactor a bit differently, but those cases are few.

just got in(:

I sent in my application the first of september and just yesterday sent in my counselor signature form. I’m visiting IU for the first time from AZ tomorrow and I checked my status to see if anything had changed, not expecting it to. And I got the “Congratulations, you’ve been admitted to Indiana University” message SO happy! First acceptance and it was so quick and painless!

I applied on Aug. 2 and got my acceptance e-mail Aug. 19.
For some reason, I only got my acceptance letter last week - after I had already set up my computer account and started on my SSA. :)

type: out-of-state; incoming freshman
GPA: 4.17
ACT: 32
AP: 5 classes (+3 more this year)
extras: member of 4 clubs + some volunteer work

Do you have to have the Core 40 with Academic honors to get into Indiana University? Or can you get in with just a Core 40 diploma?

Core 40 is good enough.
