Fall 2012 Registration for transfer student - help!

Hey everyone, I haven't been on here in a while but I am in a little dilemma and hoping some people can help me out here. So here's the deal, I registered for orientation for May 17th however given my circumstance I have to take a very specific load of courses in order to meet next semester's prerequisites. I backpacked all the courses I need for next semester and ensured they don't overlap and I really love the schedule, only problem is that the classes are filling up really quickly -- one section I needed has already closed.

Does any current students or alumni have recommendations about what I can do rather than sit here and watch these classes get filled? I know some should be dropped but I really hate banking on the idea of crossing my fingers just to get into these classes. I e-mailed the advising department and awaiting their reply so not much else I can do at this point.

If anyone can give me some advice I would appreciate it a bunch!

If the name of the professor is listed (some aren’t), you could e-mail him or her and explain your situation, then politely ask if s/he might be able to assist you in getting into the class. Sometimes, professors have been willing to make exceptions and pull a few strings to put an extra student into the class. It happened in one of my history courses last semester, so it’s worth at least a try.

I had to pick a whole new schedule by the time I got to orientation, but it worked out and there will be advisers on hand to help you. Try not to sweat too much, there isn’t very much you can do until you get to orientation.

Once you can register, if you are in the top 5 on the waitlist I wouldn’t worry about it. I avoided waitlisting into classes but if you are one of the first few, you’ll usually get in even if somebody doesn’t drop-- and people probably will.
