Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

It just depends. They updated my transfer transcript/first recommendation letter in 2-3 days. However, it took 10 days for them to update my 2nd rec. I think we all should be patient as the deadline is right around the corner and I believe the office is getting quite chaotic at this moment.

My application was received on 1/31. Today (2/5) I saw my materials (College Transcript, High School Transcript) marked as not received. Does it indicate a problem?

Did you send those materials in? If so, when?

When did you send the materials? It usually takes up to 2(even 3) weeks for them to process your stuff and update your wolverine account.

just got accepted tonight! best of luck to everyone, keep working hard!

Congrats dude!! You have supreme stats at UM-Dearborn. When did you submit your application with all materials if you don’t mind me asking?

thanks man! i had all my materials confirmed on wolverine access on 1/20. I was really surprised to hear back this fast, especially because i considered myself a borderline applicant.

Michael, how many credits did you have total (and how many pending) when you were accepted?

i had 49 total (13 pending), although only 47 of those credits transferred so i will end up but 60 transferrable credits after this term.

Do you think 30 (plus 15 pending) would be enough for me to be accepted, with ~3.8 GPA at MSU and dismal (3.3) high school GPA? I know it’s pretty sketchy, but if you were to guess?

Hey everyone, OP here. I got my rejection email today at 3:08 p.m. and it is not on Wolverine Access yet.
It is really depressing seeing as this is the 3rd time I have received an email from UofM and it not being positive. I know the main reason for the rejection is the fact I only have 16 credits. I have done my research and searches and have found very very few people on CC get accepted after only one semester. I have yet to see someone get rejected with 60 credits on CC actually.

I currently have 16 credits with another 16 more credits at Wayne State pending. I am taking 18 credits over the spring/summer semester at a CC. I will take 16 more at Wayne State again in Fall 2012. This leaves me at 66 credits for admission in Winter 2013. Winter 2013 will be my absolute last chance to enter. I know 66 credits won’t all get transferred in, I have two classes (I took last semester) that don’t qualify for credit at UMich.

I am in love with my chances for Winter 2013. It will be my 4th time applying. I will have average high school stats. I will have my great ACT score. Above average GPA at Wayne State with 66 credits. If I don’t get in for Winter 2013 then… x_x

Here are my stats:

Current College: Wayne State University (Honors) (Full Ride)
College GPA: 3.79 (16 Credits)
Residence: Instate
ACT Score: 30
HS GPA: 3.61 (Upward trend throughout)
Transfer Essays: Above average
Notes:
- Full ride to Wayne State
- Waitlisted to UofM for freshmen entrance
- Student Government President in HS
- Class Council VP in HS
- Applying for Econ major in LSA
- What will kill me: Failed AP Physics in 11th grade. Went back senior year and passed regular physics.
- Above average course rigor in high school.
- Transfer reason: Seeking more extracurricular opportunities + UMich prestige
- T.A. wrote LofRec stating I was Top 1% student.

Believe me when I say I know how you feel Albo, I had the same thing happen to me a couple times around. Granted, my stats weren’t exactly stellar, but like you, I figured my college stats would be enough to get in for my second try. Luckily, we have the GPA needed for admission, it’s just the number of credits we’re shy of.

I called admissions at Umich and the woman said that generally when students have 45 total credits at college when they apply then the high school transcripts aren’t placed into consideration for their decision, or at least not nearly as much as the college transcript. So if you apply for Winter 2013 (as will I) then I can almost guarantee that you’ll get it. I know of someone who had a 3.0 in high school and 3.8 in college with roughly 54 credits and he was accepted for junior transfer. Another guy had a 3.6 in high school, 3.6 at MSU and 30 credits with around 15 pending who was also accepted. So there’s always hope with a little waiting.

So all you need to do is keep that stellar GPA up and give it some time. I’m also taking summer classes (organic chem) so I believe the credits I get from that will also be of great help toward my total number. Patience pays off, and I guarantee you and I will get it eventually, so chin the hell up! You’ll be fine, my friend.

I just wish I could stop thinking about UofM seeing as there will be another 8 months until I get another decision from them. -__-

Also if I don’t take summer classes I will 48 credits at the end of Winter 2013 allowing me to apply then as well as for Fall 2013, I’m not sure what I should do regarding that.

Wait, 48 by the end of Winter 2013? Don’t you mean by the time that semester begins? I thought you were applying for Winter 2013.

You’re right my mistake. 48 by the end of Fall 2012 or if I take summer classes I’d have about 66 credits but I think I have 6 credits that don’t transfer.

Interesting. I think 48 would be enough to do you good if your GPA holds up well through that time, and I’m sure it will. But if you plan on doing those summer classes that’s a good idea as well.

One guy had a 3.6 at MSU and 30 credits with 16 pending and he was accepted for Winter 2012, so since I go to MSU and have a higher GPA than that then I’m not too worried as to where I stand with my credits in applying for Winter '13. That said, I am taking organic chem (8 credits) this summer primarily for practice before I actually take it sophomore year but I’m debating whether to actually do it for credits or not (I’m pre-med and I’m told med schools don’t like it if you take prerequisites for credits at a CC). So we’ll see.

Sorry what is a CC? Im pre-med as.well

community college

Hi everyone, I’m an international applicant. I know that this post has been inactive for a while and most people have known whether they are accepted/denied. But for me, I still haven’t got informed by Umich whether I’m accepted/denied. I would like to know is there anyone else facing the same problem as mine. I’m really worried about this. Should I just contact the admissions office? Or maybe contacting College of Engineering is better since I apply for Chemical Engineering.

^ Have you checked wolverine access? There should be a decision there, assuming you applied for Fall of 2012 (but I think it’s too late now, enrollment deposit was due on the 1st of May)
