Fall 2012 Transfer

@ Zelda Fitzgerald - I was wondering the same thing about that Fall 2011 GPA.

That’s what I’m expecting for next semester four classes, all easy ge

What level is everyone applying for transfer into? I hope I’m not the only sophomore transfer, lol.

@ gousc92 - I think everyone is applying at the transfer level. The thread title does say “Fall 2012 Transfer.”

No, I mean like Junior, Sophomore, etc.

@ gousc92 - Oh. Sorry about my bad. Well, I’m going to be a sophomore this upcoming fall semester. So I guess that makes me a transfer applicant at the junior level.

I hope you get in; I was thinking about transferring for sophomore year, but I didn’t go through with it because I felt that I didn’t show enough growth from high school.

Hey y’all, I’ll be applying as a Junior transfer for Fall 2012.
Currently an International Affairs major at George Washington University, but realized that it wasn’t for me. I’ll be looking to transfer as a prospective Environmental Studies/Geological Sciences (B.S.) major. GW lacks depth in the natural sciences, which is why I’m looking at USC. I also have family out there, and am an avid surfer. I guess my reasons for transferring are pretty obvious.

My Cum. gpa right now is looking at around a 3.2, and I’m hoping to raise it quite a bit.
Gpa suffered my first year as I was constantly taking the train home weekends to Virginia to take care of and visit my Father, who had cancer. I’m hoping that the admissions officers will be understanding of this, and that a positive upward grade trend will prove to USC that I can handle myself.

Two questions:

1 - I’ve already gotten myself started by interning with the Sierra Club this summer: do you think the admissions officers will look more favorably upon a heavier workload, or more major preparation (via internships)? I can either intern again this fall, taking less classes, or take more classes, potentially increasing my gpa even more. I’m guessing the latter.

2 - I was an extremely active member of my high school’s marching band, which was one of the best in the state of Virginia, and was a bit bummed when I found out I wouldn’t be able to continue it in college. Does anyone by chance know if it’s possible to become a member of the Marching Trojans as a Junior level transfer?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

@Giusepppe: Well, from my extensive (and I do mean extensive lol) reading of the last 2 (3?) years of USC transfer threads, I will say that a heavier workload would possibly be in your best bet. I’ve read from different posters stating that USC doesn’t really take ECs into as much consideration as they do for high schoolers (something about leveling the playing field, I persume? Same deal with how some SGRs send their grades in like mid-May and others send it end of June, yet both don’t hear back until early July.)

Especially since your GPA isn’t as strong. I think that would be your best course of action.

Hi everyone!
Thought this thread would be under the transfer section, but glad i found it!

Just finished my first year at UCSC, really want to be in So Cal though. English transfer, I have a bad winter quarter, really bad ( was hospitalized)
but I took 15 units at summer school did very well, so hoping it will show a upward trend, if i don’t get in this year, ill re apply next year, since i don’t have that many units

fight on!

Hi Scgal12! 15 units during summer school is very impressive, I’m sure it can only enhance your application.

Did you manage any ECs?

Hey guys,

I think it’s probably a better idea to move here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1200985-usc-2012-transfer-thread.html

It’ll be easier for the rest of the USC transfer peeps to find later down the road. Then again, it’s just a suggestion.

@Gratification - Thanks for getting this transfer thread started though

Hello!

I am applying as a Fall 2012 transfer from a community college. I am currently in my first semester and I am aiming for a 4.0. I am taking 14 units this semester. By the end of the spring semester, I should have 37 units in total. I hope to God that I don’t need to send in my high school transcripts and SAT scores. Will they still request it even though I am in the process of getting 30+ units during the time of the application?

Thanks!

Good luck to all to those applying. Cross your fingers :)

Hi all!
I’m trying for fall 2012 as a sophomore transfer. Has anyone looked at the common app yet? Are we required to turn in instructor evaluations? And what about the college official report? How are they supposed to know about your personal qualities and everything… I’ve never even met my college counselor.
How are you guys doing on ec’s? It’s my first year at college and I don’t have any :frowning: (I’m finding it hard to get involved while trying to avoid social/partying groups.) I hope USC doesn’t look too hard at college ec’s…I’m dying to be admitted for fall!
