This November, the application fee is going up to $70 per campus for US applicants, $80 per campus for international applicants.

Talk about CA budget :(

My thoughts on this: I originally want to apply to 5 UCs, and U$C for CS, which means ~360 bucks total on application fee. Now that this happens, guess I have to cut down one UC, since U-dollar-C will probably increase their application fee as well.

Thanks Ryan, but I’m not eligible for BOG have to pay everything out of my pocket

Agree with you kitty, though this is not sour grape, I hate it when fees increase (tuition $26 => $36, application fee $60 => $70) and harder to get admitted, while at the same time classes are cut and we get less-qualified instructors. Those that are well-qualified at my school are laid off this summer because they cannot pay enough wage, believe it or not

I guess in the next few days UCSD will send an announcement that even with 3.5+ there are still too many applicants, so they decide to raise their TAG threshold to 3.8 lol

My god. I’m so envious of those who applied last year, they really got it easy. Not only did they get cheaper application fees, but gpa requirements for the TAG were lower too. Good thing this is barely this first change to the process, I can only imagine what it will be like 4-5 years from now.

To be fair, it makes sense that they’re taking things more seriously. That is, for a measly 3.0 to be worth a guaranteed acceptance into UCSD (!), things were a little out of hand.

Haha 3.5 was fair but tough, I was only joking about the 3.8 stuff anyway. What I am trying to say is all the increased fees, which are totally NOT fair comparing to those folks that applied and got in last year

Not that I don’t wanna jump in on blowing off some steam, but it’s really not that big an increase. Hopefully it keeps certain people from applying everywhere knowing they would never go to certain schools anyway. I find that a bit unethical.

its the principle of it…everything is costing more, being harder & all the folks before us had a golden road practically.

not that i am one of them but people who UC says “make too much” really don’t and they won’t even qualify for the fee waiver, and it will matter to them they they have to pay and extra 40 dollars (if applying to 4).

Apply for a fee waiver
You can apply for a fee waiver within the online application and be notified immediately whether you have qualified. You will need to provide your family’s income and the number of people supported by that income.

i was doing the fall 2010 application and that thing denied me because i reported 0 income for my mom - its the truth tho, little do they believe.
