Thankfully, the wait is over. D received the letter today notifying her in advance of the April 1st notification that she has been accepted for the Fall.

I'd say she's about 99.9% sure this is the one.

@YankeeDad Congratulations! What major did she apply for?

@Cupcake, @rachelfran, Thank you, my daughter was accepted in to the FMM program. The letter was nice, I was hoping she’d get it because she’s a very good student but I can’t wait till the big envelope comes. Seems more official and impressive. Since her letter came this past Monday, I’m hoping the package gets here this coming Monday. Good luck everyone! FIT is really a unique experience for the right students.

YankeeDad…I am asking this on behalf of a friend whose daughter has applied and who has gotten very good feedback from an interview she had with the Dean – but no acceptance yet.
Did your daughter receive a sholarship or merit award? I know with other kinds of colleges, those who receive those distinctions often hear before the other admitted students.

^^My3Daughters . . . My daughter didn’t receive a merit award, as far as I know FIT doesn’t even offer any. Students can apply for a few private scholrships after their first year, but there aren’t many. I also think the design side of the school is where more of the scholarships are. And yes, based on her GPA and SAT’s and EC’s she has received very good merit aid and scholarship offers from the traditional colleges where she’s been accepted.

OK, thanks, YankeeDad. Maybe because your daughter is a top contender with her stats, she received her notice sooner than other students will? My friend’s daughter has more average SATs/GPA, but has alot of recognized talent on the design side. She’s concerned she hasn’t heard when others have, and I told her it may be that those with the higher stats hear first? I know that is how my own daughter, in a traditional college market, has experienced it.

The letter starts off with "Congratulations! In recognition of your outstanding academic achievement . . . you are among a small select group. . . " so it’s definitely about the stats/academics. From what we had heard - and has been posted on CC in past years - applicants with higher GPA’s (in the 3.6 - 3.7 and better range) with AP’s and college credit classes will hear a little early. And again, this is for the business school side of FIT.

I’m already appreciating the extra time. I thought it was all set but now my daughter doesn’t want to rush her decision.

Thanks – that is very helpful info!! And congrats!!

FIT is a SUNY. The tuition is very reasonable, especially for NY residents. Even out of state, not to bad. The living costs are high.

I just got my acceptance letter yesterday!! SO HAPPY.

Congrats… Do you have very high level academics? Where are you from? Just getting nervous for my niece.

Congratulations, what program is she going for? Tell her to watch the FIT site, the information regarding Admitted Students Day will be posted soon. It’s 4/13 and 14, one day for business students, the other for arts.
