So since there isn't a thread for this fall's Early Action applicants yet, I thought I'd start one. Did anyone apply??

Yes, I did. Vet, just finished my first semester at a school in chicago and looking to transfer to G.S.

I wasn’t planning on posting here but now that I think about, a lot of the people who posted in past G.S. threads got accepted. So maybe its good luck?

Submitted on February 28th, still waiting on my columbia ID.

haha that’s quite true, a lot of people got accepted from the last fall’s thread.

I moved to the US from Russia and have been attending different community colleges. Really excited about the prospect of studying at GS!

I submitted part I of the application on Jan 19th and received my CUID two days after. It might be taking them a while to get back to you because they have already started reviewing the applications.

I applied Feb. 28th, and am still awaiting my Columbia ID. Are there only 4 people (including me) that applied for Early Action? I’m surprised!

yeah this semester’s thread is extremely quiet compared to other semesters. Maybe this is a good thing?

hglmel, I’m sure there are more people, they are just not on CC or don’t feel like posting. I am surprised though that there are no other threads for the fall. Last year a lot of applicants posted here.

What are you guys majoring in?

computer science

@Denbal87 - Very true.

I hope this means we have a better chance of getting in. I really do want to go!

I am (hopefully) majoring in Human Rights.

hglmel, I didn’t know Columbia offered a humans rights major, sounds very interesting! I plan - hopefully as well - to double major in biology and cultural anthropology. Now that I know about it, I would be delighted to take classes on human rights since this subject is directly related to my interests within cultural anthro.

It could be that there are less applicants, but also, as aicccia pointed out, this semester’s pool could just be less sociable. In any case, I don’t wanna think about it too much since there’s always a chance they will reject you. If I knew that the chances were good and got rejected, I would feel even worse than if I didn’t know at all. lol

Where is everyone applying from this semester?

Does any know when they will make the decisions? 3 weeks after the deadline Mar. 1st? Thank you…
also, most ppl who posted in past GS threads got accepted? wow… call me superstitious but i’m here.

StuntZ, I am in New York City, where are you applying from?

fy2140, according to the thread from last fall, the first decisions were announced in late March. Some people that were accepted didn’t hear until after May first though.

@aicccia
you mean CUID the number? not the physical ID, because you only get one once you are accepted

Thanks @StuntZ
I applied early birds, i guess the result could be coming soon, but not after May (cz the early birds action wouldn’t make any sense then)

When I talked to um they said it was 6-8 weeks after your application was completed…but i think the earliest decisions get mailed today.

I’m applying out of New Jersey, and good luck to everyone hopefully i’ll be see all you all in the fall.

Thanks StuntZ, best of luck to you as well!

@StuntZ
hi StuntZ, you are accepted? congratulations! how do you know they started mailing decisions, i thought they will do it in emails. this week is spring break, i don’t know if they are still working. btw, who is um? good luck to all the compulsive-email/mailbox-checking buddies out there. i’m applying from new york, although i don’t think this is relevent.

I just found out that one of my transcripts that I ordered a month ago wasn’t sent out. I am so upset. I was already hoping to hear something within the next few weeks – silly, I know, even without the missing transcript – and now I bet I will have to wait until May. :(

@denbal87 they told me they will call you if they are missing something, i don’t think it’s gonna be as late as May, they just haven’t reviewed your application yet. they just started reviewing i guess. good luck denbal
