my application has been “under review” since the beginning of march so i’m assuming i’ll have a decision this week or next. i think it just depends on when your application was complete.

She was very nice, I was hoping for an upbeat “you should hearing something soon,” that would have made my day.

Hello everyone! Glad to hear I am not alone in waiting day after day the mailman or on phone for email.

Good Luck everyone!

Any news yet this week? I am thinking about calling tomorrow.

@ssantana
hi santa, did you call? what did they say if you don’t mind

I did give them a call and was told my application is “under review” and I should receive a reply in 2-3 weeks.

2-3 weeks! Oh my gosh! I don’t think I can wait that long! You applied by March 1st, right?

How did you ask them? I really want to call and ask how soon they think I should hear from them, but I feel like it’s not my place to ask them that.

2 weeks again? i thought that’s the statement 2 weeks before 2 weeks ago

I’ll say it again, this waiting is so nerve wrecking!!

I still think, (although as much as we want to) if we applied early action we can’t really be in a position to ask about decisions until after May 1st. That was the posted GS guaranteed decision-date for early action applicants.

i think strong candidates have already been granted admissions, the left are either waiting to be declined or on the waiting list.

I applied by March 1st, however, my transcripts were delayed. Therefore, I am expecting a delayed response.

Is it for certain that all acceptance have already been submitted by now?

I just called and the lady said I should hear in a week or two. I don’t wanna think anything anymore, I’m just gonna try to ignore it (although I know it will be impossible lol).

Well that’s a dreadful thought. I guess we will find out soon enough.

I’ve counted about 19 people in this thread, and so far only one acceptance… That’s basically 5%, far from the 20-30% acceptance rate for GS… I’m dying to find out, but I’m sure by this time next week we’ll start receiving more notices and hopefully many

but basically, there will only be 3 more ppl getting accepted in this thread, statistically speaking

i think everyone needs to calm down! haha.

i called this morning asking about the status of my application and whether or not it had moved from “under review” to “complete/decision made.” the admissions officers said that it was still “under review,” but that it could technically be “complete/decision made;” the status change may just be lagging.

all my application requirements were turned in and my application was “under review” by the first week of march. she said that a decision should be mailed out to me by the end of this week, and that i’ll receive the decision the next week.

also, a General Studies’ assistant dean of admissions came to our college and gave a presentation on GS. she mentioned that the acceptance rate is between 30-33%.

hope that helps! fingers crossed.

Cheer up guys, despite the fact that decisions are lagging far behind from last years, its far from over yet. We still have two more weeks and not getting a rejection letter means we are all still in the running to being accepted. But while we are waiting, I thought I would share this article that i stole from another thread. While its not GS, I think it still applies on the admissions process and will make some of you feel better.

Thanks for sharing this nontrad, very good article! I think with all of us possibly having bitter feeling towards the admissions for not giving us clear updates, this gives the most appropriate insight into why it is so. They are working hard. The wait is almost over: Let’s all just stay hopeful!

nontradguy,

Awesome article, and very true. Being an admissions officer must be no easy job!

Great article! Although there is only one comfort in a rejection, I’m also applying to NYU and have already been accepted into one other school that has a 38% acceptance rate. I’m hoping for the best but backups are going to be the only comfort in the case of rejection.
