to6284, the resemblance is uncanny for name’s sake…
i won’t be back in new york for a week, can’t wait to see the fedex package at home:)
and i can log in to financial aid as well

what major are you guys interested in? i may go for CS.

I want to go into Political Science - Financial Economics. After Columbia I definitely want to continue expanding myself, but I am not sure if I want to get an MBA or a Juris Doctor in International Law. It’s been so long since I was in a classroom that I feel the need to take some classes and feel it out before I can make a definite decision.

and fy2140 there are no words for when you open that envelope! I was shaking!

you are not helping man:) i can’t come home …

@vickinglady when did you submit your application?

About 4 weeks ago, seems that there may be a delay in the process for my application. Haven’t called yet to ask.

Well guys, i can’t lie I had pretty much wrote this off as a rejection after last friday since i hadn’t got a decision yet. I just happend to check my email and they requested an interview!!! It was a pretty straight forward and i was very glad i got to do it!!! So dont lose hope you guys who havent got a decision yet they are still working on the applications. Still got hope i’ll see everyone who got accepted in the fall and good luck to everyone still waiting!!!

Hi everyone! I have been following this thread for what seemed like the longest week ever!!! I called on Monday and they told me “Congratulations!” over the phone which I was very surprised about. I was still pretty nervous until I got my Fedex envelope today! So excited to meet all of you and congratulations to all those in! =)

When I called Monday they said they were running behind because of so many applications. I hope the rest of you can handle the suspense, I was starting to leave work early to check my mail -_-

Congrats everyone who got accepted!!! This is such great news! I knew a high percentage of the people on this thread would be accepted because we all care enough about our application to post on here. I’m sure our desire and eagerness to attend GS was apparent in our applications.

@to6284 Financial Economics/Engineering is a great major! I read somewhere that it is the major that is most sought after for recruiters on Wall Street.

I have been an English major until now, but I am considering changing my major to Sociology. Sociology is what I am most interested in, and I hope to eventually attend grad school for it.

Congrats to everyone, again!

So many new members on the thread! Welcome, congrats, and good luck to all those waiting!!! I know the wait is horrible, but getting in after waiting for so long is totally worth it! All day long I’ve been feeling like I won an Oscar. Surreal. Happy. Bittersweet. Trying to figure it all out!

@fy Don’t worry, your envelope is there and it isn’t going anywhere. You got in and no one can ever take that away!

@sktchbook I’m actually going for Political Science/Economics, but I am sure we will have some early curriculum classes together.

Since I haven’t been in school for a while they automatically enrolled me in GEST F0005 every Wednesday from 12-1. Anyone else in the same class? I would love to meet up ahead of time!

i sent an email to one of the admissions officers inquiring about my app. she said she couldnt release a decision over email, but promised that ill receive notice very shortly. i can spend hrs psychoanalyzing the message.

@to6284 How did you find out you were automatically enrolled?

I have had been watching this thread for a long time and I can’t wait any more…

is there anyone who actually applied to CC not GS??

my application was forwarded to GS because CC admission told me that I am more appropriate for GS candidate…

The reason why I applied to CC was that I applied to SEAS back in 2010.

From the school of General studies website, it says “… nor are candidates eligible to apply to the School of General Studies if in the last three years they applied to any of these divisions and were not accepted.”

I am very stressed lol… I really want to go to Columbia and I am losing hope because CC application and GS application are very different.

jkim, i think if you are not directly from high school, you need to apply for GS, at least that’s what i thought :)

Jkim, if you look at the tab for this forum it’s a sub forum titled “Columbia School of General Studies” so I doubt anyone who applied to CC accidentally posted under a GS Early Action topic and if they did they’re probably not getting into Columbia College :)

@to6284

I am also enrolling in the university studies course according to my acceptance letter. I’m actually glad I am. I want to take full advantage of everything they offer to make my years at GS as smooth as humanly possible.

Is anyone signed up for an APS yet? I’m all set for the one on May 28. What about Storybook? It would be great to connect with some people from this thread. My name is Max Rangel.

Hismatix - What is university studies? This wasn’t mentioned in my letter. I also plan on coming to the May 28 APS. I figure the sooner I get that done the sooner I can meet with an academic advisor and figure out what my transfer of credits look like. Taking Calc I and Microeconomics this summer at my community college.

I just got my financial aid report and am on the verge of making a decision against going to Columbia. I don’t want to discourage anyone still waiting for their decision or those that just got admitted, but I just can’t help feeling so desperate and am in need of being heard. I am going to try and sleep on it. Are there anyone with great financial need that got admitted? If so, how are you planning to pay the tuition? Thanks.

Denbal, I had absolutely nothing to my name when I was admitted. So, I think I have an idea of what you’re going through. Send me a private message if you’d like to talk more about it. A bit more about myself:

Finished at GS in December 2011, graduated in 2012.
From outside NYC.
Lived in UAH for all five semesters.
Worked full-time while in school (part of which was funded through work study).
Studied sociology. Graduated magna cum laude and PBK.
Work in financial services.
I only have 289 monthly student loan payments to go.

Dear Denbal87:

Even if I am a regular decision applicant, I am sure lots of applicants will need both loans and as many as scholarships. I also estimate debts when I plan to graduate from CU. It’s above +$120000. Fortunately I also found lots of scholarship chances to recently accepted. visit GS website again! You will find a list of all scholarships. Otherwise, I don’t know how to tell you. Both Federal fianacial aid and subsidized loans provide extremely limited amount of money to each student, and I doubt how I am able to pay everything( If I am admitted). Best of luck !!!
