Fall 2013 Early Action

i’m pretty sure that doesn’t mean i’m accepted cz they told me it’s still under review, but thanks denbal.

I tried to waive my app fee too, but i paid at the end.

Oops, it’s Damaris

@fy I only have a prepaid credit card, I had zero funds on it at the time I was submitting my application. I checked the pay by money order or check and called a relative to loan me the $80 application fee. It was too late to change the payment option on my application since I had already submitted online. Otherwise my relative would have paid via credit card. I’m lucky to such family.
@denbal thanks, I will try that it my payment status is still pending in a couple weeks. I did send an inquiry email “NOTE” as they referred to it, this is what I got back Friday 3/22:

"To Whom It May Concern:

@I8, i hope they grant you the waiver after all the waiting back and forth. i bet this is the busiest time in the academic year, it’s their “March Madness” :)

how come every time i asked them, they gave me different answers about when they will make a decision. not complaining, but i was told, 3 weeks, 6-8 weeks, before May with the combination of After March 1st or After Your App is complete.

Hey guys, this is my first time posting but I thought I would join in on the thread. Looking at last years thread it seems that people started getting acceptances via phone calls on the 30th. So hoping that some of us are the lucky ones we might start hearing word next monday?

one more week? i don’t think i can wait that long before i drive myself crazy.

haha try not to get too crazy. Remember its still very early and we have a whole month for them to roll out decisions. But considering your application is already under review I’m pretty sure you’ll be one of the first people to find out if you got in.

Do you guys think it would be okay to send in a 3rd teacher recommendation if you think it will improve a weak area in your application or do you think the admins would frown upon it?

i sent in 3 letters. i think it’s OK as long as it’s not redundant. if you think it’s necessary, meaning what the 3rd letter shows what’s not already said in the first 2. quantity is what you should concern, it’s the quality that matters.

lol… lost in my own logic… quality is more important than quantity, however, as far as i know, you can submit as much as 5 letters but the fact you can doesn’t mean you should.

Thanks! I think I’ll give them a call tomorrow to see if its okay to send in a third letter of recommendation. Plus it will give me a good excuse to do a little reconnaissance and find out how far along my application is and maybe even find out when they’ll be sending out the first wave of acceptances. I’ll keep you guys posted with what I find out!

I also had 3 letters submitted; I don’t think it’s bad in any way. Cool nontradguy, let us know what they say!

So I just got off the phone with the admissions office. Found out that my application is complete but its not under review yet. I did a little asking around about the admissions process but I got the generic message that it could take anywhere up to 8 weeks after completion to get a decision and that once an application gets recorded as complete it gets queued. I asked her if there was any particular order in which they reviewed the applications but she said there wasn’t really any rhyme or reason to it. It’s just a matter of which one they get their hands on first. So it’s much pretty much luck at this point to see if your file gets pulled early.

And back to the waiting game…

stochastic process!

Hello everyone!

I also applied early action, and submitted my completed application by March 1st. I guess it wasn’t the case as apparently they never received my transcripts from my previous schools. I had to re-order and track them to make sure this time they were delivered. My application was not “officially” complete until March 20th, this past week. The lady from the admission’s office told me she would then push my application for review, but I have yet to get any type of notification of that being so. I applied to 3 different schools including Columbia, and thankfully I’ve already been accepted to the other two. Just waiting on Columbia to make that FINAL decision!

I will contribute and keep you all updated if I hear anything else! :)
