Fall 2013 Early Action

First week of April down, and seems that no news yet. Everyone stay strong! I guess we cannot really start inquiring about admission decisions until after May 1st.

Last March 22nd, I got my CU ID and June 6th I got my acceptance call. Just wanted to let you know last year’s timeline. I deferred a year hence my recent activity on CC. Hang in there everyone! Now, just waiting on financial aid and housing! Don’t forget to get your housing applications in ASAP once you get accepted.

June 6th?? You didn’t apply for early action, did you ndi?

Clearly, I am not following the theme of this thread! Oh dear, I will be stepping off right about now! I wish I knew there WAS such a thing as early action…it took forever to hear back! Best of luck in the upcoming weeks everyone! If you don’t get in, remember, Columbia is wonderful but people have received fabulous educations elsewhere and gone on to thrive and change the world :)…cheers!

Thanks Ndi, I’ve been trying to maintain this attitude since I submitted my application. I already got admitted to two schools and I think I would be happy attending either of them. However, I’m finding it hard to enjoy the weekends these days since no news from Columbia can arrive on the weekend lol

Hopefully next week at least somebody in this thread will hear something. I’m just hoping all my documents will be processed by then. Having to wait all the way until May 1st would be excruciatingly hard.

new week guys! good luck to all of you.

Same to you fy, let’s hope for the good news!

I applied EA, but one of my transcripts didn’t appear processed until 3/29. I expect my response to be delayed relative to others, so everyone post when you get a decision! If you don’t mind sharing that is.

arockjoe,

Same thing happened to me, I attempted to apply Early Action, and although the dates for all other items show to have been received before the March 1st deadline, my transcripts didn’t “process” until a few weeks after. The admissions rep I spoke to says I should still hear a response by May 1st. We’ll see what happens.

Hey Guys,

I got a mail from GS today. I thought that it is rejection mail that I was expecting due to my very low GPA and weak essay. But it was not rejection mail, it comes from admission office and they want me to continue my story and reminding me June 1 is deadline. : )
interesting.

I wouldn’t take any notice of the admissions thing either way. I received them for 18 months after getting, before finally asking the admissions department to remove me from the list. It’s just handled separately, and they don’t seem to remove people.

Hey guys! I’ve got great news. Just got the overnight express package from Columbia. Looks like I’m the first one in the thread to be admitted but hopefully there’s a lot more of us!

Navy Vet. No outstanding academic credentials except for a pretty good essay.

Congrats aicccia!!! Such exciting news! If you don’t mind, when did you submit your app and when was it complete?

Congratulations aicccia! did they call to inform you before the package arrived?

Congrats aicccia!

Part I of my app was submitted Feb 25, part 2 with the essay on 28 Feb. Everything was complete by 1 March.

Wow, aicccia congrats!! Ahh I’m so jealous of you since the waiting part is over for you. I just wish I could know now, whether or not I got in, because waiting is so stressful.

Congrats Aicccia! I am too jealous of your acceptance, but hopefully I will be joining you soon. If you don’t mind, can you share your stats?

My stats aren’t impressive: 1900 SAT and with just 12 credits(4.0) with 16 more in progress. I really think it was the essay that got me in. In my essay I talked about how all my major life experiences had shaped me and helped me develop into a unique person, and how Columbia was the next logical step in my life. I also made sure that in the essay I came across as an appreciative, friendly person.

aicccia, where in the US do you live? my part 2 was also submitted by february 28th and my application was completed by march 1. i live in southern CA.
