Fall 2013 exchange student housing

Hi, I will be an exchange student in fall 2013. I have some housing options and I can't decide which one to choose. The most important criteria is socialising with other people. Can you tell me the advantages/disadvantages of these dorms?

Bice, Copeley, Faulkner, Lambeth
IRC, Hereford College, Brown College
Johnson Malone Weedon are my options.

The conventional wisdom is to avoid Hereford and Copeley. Copeley is too far away from most other undergrad students and from classes. Hereford is known to be a little unsociable and in my opinion has bleak architecture. The other options should be fine. IRC is best if you want to hang out with students from many many different countries, as opposed to mainly living with Americans.

Lambeth is one of the most popular options because it is one of the largest concentrations of 2nd and 3rd year students, it has kitchens, and it is conveniently located.

I would imagine Bice attracts a high number of nursing students, because it is closest to the nursing building and the medical center.

If you are looking for additional options, you might join facebook groups, such as the Official University of Virginia Class of 2015 facebook group. Many students use those groups to look for an additional roommate, or to switch places for on-grounds housing.

If you are a female then I have a lease in Faulkner if you want it. You will not have to share your room with a roommate and everything is furnished. It has it’s own bus stop and is close to JPJ. Email me if you are interested! dac7wh@virginia.edu

Thanks charlieschm,
I considered your thoughts and made my application according to these information.

Also thanks dchung, I can’t pick your room because im male.

I’m not so sure about being accepted to the dorms. Probably, dorms will have no empty spot for me, so if someone has a room in any dorm for a male, post here please:)
