My daughter applied in mid-December for an upper level engineering transfer from Texas A&M University to Florida State. She's been checking her status and all it says for the last month is that all her transcripts have been received, and all test scores have been received and that she satisfied all college level proficiency skills. I was hoping we may have heard a decision by now, so we can start getting housing in order by the fall. Does it normally take this long to hear back from FSU for a transfer?

That’s really not abnormal. Right now the FSU Admissions office is focused on the freshman decision date next month. Transfer applications aren’t as time-sensitive, so they sort of take a backseat.

It normally takes something like 6-8 weeks for your transfer application to go from everything received to getting a decision.

She should be getting a decision by mid-March the latest since she applied in mid-December, but since she applied for Fall it could take a little longer bc the transfer students who applied for Summer will be getting their responses around this time.
I applied in mid-December '11 for Summer '12 and heard back by the end of February last year.

Pasbal and papertiger87, thanks for the helpful information and quick response. I will pass this along to her.

I would say that if you don’t hear something by March 1st, give a call to the admissions office and just ask them. It can’t hurt. They’ll probably just tell you to keep waiting a “few more weeks” but you never know.
