Let it be known I genuinely did not think I would be accepted! I wrote my essays about Michigan’s stellar PoliSci and Classics programs, and another essay about fandom culture and my place in it (which I knew was a huge risk, but I guess it paid off!). I’m 3/3 on my transfer acceptances. University of Illinois - UC, Rutgers, and University of Michigan. I hope everyone else is just as successful as I was, guys! Best of luck to all of you! Michigan is missing out if a single one of you doesn’t get in!!

Thanks for the update breez! After doing some research on the previous transfer forums, it seems as if the overly and underly qualified prospectives get their admission decision rather quickly(whether its an acceptance or rejection). The applicants that fall in the middle seem to go to a “maybe” pile, which is reviewed again from March to the end of April. However, this is just an assumption made by the previous fourmers’, but empirically it seems probable.

Seeing these last couple of acceptances with similar and lower credit totals is starting to concern me. I figured a 2240 SAT, 3.9+ HS GPA, 4.0 GPA at a Top 60 University, 58 credits (I miscalculated before) would make me pretty qualified for LSA, even if my ECs are not really exceptional. Would not sending in a professor recommendation be hurting my chances?

@Dp Yeah, I would defiantly consider you overly qualified. As I observed, applicants with chief stats would continue to get “earlier” decision, according to when they applied. So you might still expect a decision soon. As far as the letters of recommendations goes, I didn’t send mine in either. I called and asked, and they practically deterred me from sending mine in, saying that “they’re really not required for transfer students”.

@DP, with your stats, I can really see no reason you wouldn’t be accepted. They could still be deciding what credits are eligible for transfer in your case. If I got in, I’m sure you will!

Haha, okay, maybe I’m getting too hyped up over it. I’m just so angry at myself for not applying last year. Oh, and when I mean 58, I mean 28 AP (the way Michigan accepts them), 14 1st semester, and 16 pending, if that makes a difference.

@ezbreez - Congrats on your acceptance, by the way! With the transfer credit thing, did they already give you a report of which classes directly transfer and which count as departmental? I already know I’m going to have to petition for a couple of my courses.

Hi Guys…I’m super nervous as each day takes forever to pass.

What do you guys think of my application, its nothing close to the average “cc” member’s credential. We have some bright and very competitive applicants here. I have never done this before but heres my attempt!..

If I missed anything, please let me know.

But other than that… What do you guys think?

Hey guys,

Another transfer here… I’m extremely nervous but please let me know what my chances are… I was also waitlisted Engineering as a freshman(I applied on the very last day and the adcom I spoke with said I would’ve gotten in had I applied earlier). My only concern is that my GPA senior year kinda plummeted… I’m currently a freshman at NYU now applying to LSA as a sophomore.

College GPA: 3.94

Credits: 34(18 pending)
H.S. GPA: 3.7UW. 3.9/4.0W(bad, I know)
SAT2: 800 Math 2 770 USH
ACT: 31
I was an AP Scholar with Distinction as well… don’t know if that helps…

What do you guys think?

From NYU??? Your stats are amazing I think you don’t have to worry about anything!
I am applying to NYU also, why you want to transfer fron NYU? NYU seems great school too

Got my rejection email for LSA earlier today. My application was complete on Jan 25th.

I’m a OOS freshman at a top 35 research university, had a 3.75 GPA last semester. 34 ACT, HS GPA was 4.3 weighted, 3.3 unweighted. My high school extracurriculars were very good, college nothing special but i’ve only been here a semester.

Honestly i’m pretty surprised to have been considered a poor enough applicant to be rejected right off the bat. When I applied EA last year as a HS senior I was deferred and withdrew my app before finding out RD.

Got my acceptance e-mail this morning! Submitted app 11/27, but college transcript didn’t show up as being received until 1/29. Still need to look at it in greater depth later.

Hi All,

I’m applying to the School of engineering as a freshman Transfer student from Tufts University. There isn’t a place I’d rather be at than UofM. I had a 4.3 GPA (4.0 unweighted) in high school, a 2140 SAT, played multiple varsity sports, and even started my own successful online business. Unfortunately I was wait-listed and then rejected as a high school applicant. I’m reapplying after one semester at Tufts. I had a 3.8GPA in the school of engineering. Think I have a good shot?

Your GPA from Tufts is great, which is an advantage!! Why are you leaving Tufts? Are you in-state for UM?

I applied at the deadline and managed to get all my documents in on time. Does anyone know how long approximately it takes the admissions committee to make a decision for transfers? I’m really anxious. When can I expect to hear by???

dfin2013: It just isn’t the right fit for me. Plus Michigan is the place to be for engineers passionate about cars, like myself.

Hey everyone! I hope I’m not showing up too late to the party… I’m a transfer student from Western Michigan University. I have in-state residency, legacy, and this will be my second time applying after getting denied from the School of Music in '11. This time I’m applying to LSA. Also, I’m applying for Spring I (May-Jul), so technically this doesn’t belong here, but I’m posting anyway.

Application submitted on 1/14/13.

Berkley High School (2011):
GPA: 3.51
ACT: 25
AP: Music Theory, 3

Extra Curriculars:
Member, National Honors Society
Guitar Player, Jazz Band/Pit Band all four years
Camp Counselor, YMCA Storer Camps

Western Michigan University:
GPA: 3.55, 54 credits (15 pending)
Declared Double Major: Marketing, Rhetoric & Writing Studies (I realize that I can’t continue both majors after transferring)
Honors College, Deans list, etc.

Extra Curriculars/Work Experience:
Undergraduate Market Research Assistant (paid internship)
Student Representative/Volunteer; Campus Beet
Student Representative; Western Student Association (largest student gov. in the state)
Private Guitar Instructor
Driver/Dispatcher; Drive Safe Kalamazoo
Registration Clerk; Cedar Point, Sandusky OH (full-time summer job, 2012)
Obligatory honor societies and volunteer hours…

Almost every course I’ve taken in college has been in the 200-400 level range.
Mostly As, B plusses, and one C+ in Calc I ):
I think my essays are pretty solid.

Reasons for Transferring: need for a larger school, ideas about school have changed since high school (I originally wanted to pursue jazz guitar, now I’m studying Rhetoric), LSA has a more niched writing program than current university, Ann Arbor has a more fruitful music scene.

Let me know what you think!

Am I really the only CC’er to be rejected for Fall 2013 so far? Haven’t seen anyone else post.

NYU is a great school for a certain breed of people. If you really enjoy the city and are proactive enough to take full advantage of it, by all means it’s the place to be. In fact, I was asked out to a cocktail party by a very senior analyst at Goldman Sachs(I’m interested in finance). I couldn’t really imagine that happening elsewhere. However, the crux of the issue is I’m terribly unhappy with the lack of a solid community at NYU. Also, at Michigan I’d be more than welcome to double major in Engineering and Economics!

Any new recent decisions made?

Has anyone else received an email asking to send their current semester grades? And if so, do you know how long it might take to receive a decision after sending them in?
