Fall 2013 Transfers

giantsfan,

As far as I know, GPA does not carry over.

I read something that said there will be no orientation for school to school transfer students. I also believe that GPA DOES carry over. My friend’s did.

Has anyone gotten an award letter? I have yet to receive mine. -_-

I know this is really late, and probably not too good of an idea, but.

I’ve been accepted as a freshman to Rutgers, but I’m having second thoughts as I feel I would be paying TONS after i graduate, and I do not want to pay so much money since I have to practically loan out almost all of my tuition/housing bill.

I’m thinking of going to a community college (UCC) and I’m wondering if it’s not too hard to transfer from the CC.

~thanks.

I am never the person that would encourage a community college over a four year college especially after being accepted to a school like Rutgers. Community colleges are for the very motivated students who really want to get somewhere in life without paying the high tuition prices of a 4 year college. If you are that type of a person and you plan on going on to get a Masters then go ahead otherwise I would not recommend it. Community colleges have a very high drop out rates and sometimes they can be very discouraging. I know of so many people that started in a community school and did not make it past the first year. Go visit the one you plan on attending and make you decision accordingly. Student loans are not that bad and they give you plenty of time to pay them off.
As far as transferring to Rutgers later on, it should not be hard if you keep your GPA high. Just make sure whatever classes you take at the community school transfer to Rutgers.

Thank you for replying so quickly mytwosons.

I really would love to go to Rutgers all 4 years, but I’m not sure if the debt after would be worth it.

I’m considering going to CC first since my parents make too much to be considered for need-based aid, and my stats weren’t high enough for merit based aid. (3.9-4.0GPA w/ 1700 SAT)

I feel I am a motivated student, and I’m not too worried about the drop out rate, I focus more on my studies. I’ve been doing research for this and I’m considering Community College whether or not I can get into the NJSTARS program, however I feel that it may be too late.

Has anyone received their housing assignment yet?

I have! Unfortunately, I am in Quad 3! :(

smileasec consider yourself lucky a lot of people did not get on-campus housing yet.

Rualum, they actually extended the deadline for people to cancel housing, so if people wanted to cancel housing they could without having to pay a fee (the last day was Friday), since there was an overwhelming number of students who applied for housing.
