[] Summer Activities: Homework and being a lazy piece of garbage ಠ_ಠ We’ve done some summer math team competitions, but that’s about it.

General Comments: I know her essays and recs were good since she was admitted EA to Notre Dame. She also has honors college admittances and merit scholarships to Alabama (full tuition), Miami of Ohio (70% of tuition) and South Carolina (at least 70% tuition, possibly more to come). Fortunately DD had already decided about a week ago she is going to Alabama. DD basically applied for the challenge - to see if she could get in. At her HS kids who routinely get in to ND, Northwestern, Chicago, Vandy, Michigan etc. are rejected at UNC for some reason. Oh well - congrats to those who made it.

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to UNC Chapel Hill…?:
I honestly was freaking out about admission because I was afraid that as an OOS, my GPA and Test Scores were not high enough. Obviously, UNC is amazing about taking the hollistic approach and admittedly, I have really great ECs. I think those were what sealed the deal.
I was accepted at Tulane and Binghamton SUNY and deferred to GTown (I didnt apply anywhere ED and only applied to safeties EA) I am waiting on about 14 more decisions so as much as I would like to say i’m going to be a 'heel, I can’t quite yet. I have, however loved UNC for as long as I can remember and unless I get into Duke, I really don’t know how I’ll say no. Then again, if admittied to Hopkins, Penn, Vandy, or Dartmouth, I don’t know how I’d be able to say no either…oh well, I’d rather be playing the waiting game than applying!!
Congrats to all admitted, Good Luck to those deferred, and to those Rejected-There’s a reason to every rhyme!

btw, IJudgeAdmissions, that’s 2140, I think…

@ChicagoBear: Your daughter was probably rejected because they knew she wouldn’t go to UNC. I think they try to determine a good yield on the number they accept compared to those who actually attend. Unless she gushed about wanting to be a Tar Heel in her essay, she was probably set aside as someone more likely to go to Michigan or Northwestern or the others you mentioned. Good luck, those are all great places!
